It was Saturday morning, February 24th 2018. The big day of the steem meet-up at Ibadan. After our usual make-up, we (@endowedqueen and @vwoke) all had our Dtube t-shirts worn with a pair of jeans, I and my beautiful sisters were good to go. We headed out from @tojukaka's residence with the little descriptions he gave to us since he had to leave earlier in order to put things in place before the big event kicks off.
It was our first time in the Ancient City of Ibadan, so you will not be wrong to call us JJC's (Johnny Just Come). Worse still, none of us could either speak or understand the local language, Yoruba.
We were told to take a bike to general gas and board a cab going to Mokola, calcare building. It was as simple as that.
We took a bike which dropped us at general gas and thereafter flagged down a taxi to take us to Mukola.
This was where and how the whole drama started.
The cab driver was an advanced typical Yoruba man, with those long tribal marks on his face, its a pity I did not take any pictures of him. The only language he really understands and speaks fluently is Yoruba (Oya come and see explanations, lol)
We decided to board the cab to Mukola and ask for directions from passersby when we get there. As we were still discussing with the driver, I sighted a handsome guy wearing a red colour Stach t-shirt, I said to myself, this guy must be a Steemian heading to the venue. I beckoned on him to assist us by describing the venue to the cab driver since he was not heading to the venue at that time. Luckily for us, he spoke the Yoruba dialect fluently, so the cab driver better understood the description to the venue. He also showed us the picture of the calcare building and a nearby restaurant building from his phone to assist identify the calcare building when we saw it. This guy was God sent indeed! He was at the right place at the right time you may say. His username is @phait inscribed on his Stach t-shirt.
With the help of his descriptions and the picture of the buildings he earlier showed us, we arrived at the venue on time for the red carpet moment with @adejoke16.
Thank you once more @phait.
Never underestimate the power of our steemit t-shirts, it was my guide - it could be something else to you tomorrow. It can speak for you without you saying a word to others and it can also attract fellow Steemians to you.
Do not forget to leave a comment and resteem, it is always appreciated.
@phait is a fantastic gentle man, very recommendable
what would you have done with his picture oo...lol 😁
