Birth of a New Project + Meet-up

Words couldn't explain how I felt at the first meet up (issh) I would ever attend since I joined Steemit. I couldn't contain my happiness seeing the faces of lovely steemians, the ones I knew and the ones I don't. It was a blast of a meeting, getting to meet my boss and pioneers of Steemit in my environment.

Organized by notable steemians like @harbysco, @bollutech, @honourmaus, @olanrewaju and @bcrafts(that's me).

The meet-up was held at Amazing delicacy in the prestigious institution of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho Oyo state Nigeria. My alma mater, where I got to found about this platform.

The meet-up was to unveil a new project that just joined the moving train on Steemit LSC-Project. A project born out of the need of minnows cries out for help on having low upvotes on their post. A project which would be devoted in curating, teaching, helping its members and steemians which it feels like deserve more than they get on Steemit.

A meet-up was organized for the students of LAUTECH to meet each other and offer suggestions on how we could move the community forward while also getting to hear about the ideas and goals of the community in whole.

Like every meet-up, a date was set aside after votes were taken by members on when we should meet.

The plans of the meet-up was changed at the last minute after my bosses felt we needed more exposure and color to the meet-up, a new venue was announced with immediate effect.

The Meet-Up

Steemians trooped in from different corners of the University, I was amazed at the numbers of individuals that attended. What we thought would be a small gathering turned out into a big something. Our MC's being @bollutech and @olarenwaju, while @bcrafts (that's me) was the Photographer for the day.

Gathered at Amazing delicacy (the new venue), colored brightly in red and blue tables and chairs with a grey umbrellas, steemians sat in their numbers.

• Opening Prayer

  Opening prayers was done by @olatun. A nice steemian, one of the early birds to the meet-up.

• Introduction Speech

  The Introduction speech was handled by @harbysco, he welcomed us all to the gathering and dropped little advice on how we can be a good steemian.*

  Members of the community took turns to introduce themselves to the community by stating their names, Steemit handle names, how they got to know about steemit and their journey so on steemit.

We had a Special Guest all the way from Abeokuta in attendance, in honour of @ewuoso, A well known Nigerian Steemian. He gave us a speech on his journey on Steemit. Advising, the lsc-project members on how he got to where he is on Steemit. I had to admit to myself, this boss is just wow.

LSC-Project Discussed by @honourmaus

The project was discussed in detail by @honourmaus, he mentioned the goals of the project and plans the project have to give to its members.

The lsc-project is said to be created for her members who are struggling with upvotes on the Steemit platform as said by @honourmaus, he said the project would look into curating good quality posts that don't get what they deserve on the Steemit platform.

He promised he would try his best to make sure this project is a success. He mentioned he and other core members of the project would make sure lsc-project gives all its possible best to its member.

Suggestions

Suggestion time came after the great speech by @honourmaus, members were told to contribute to what @honourmaus had said. Though, most members were shy but we could get suggestion from some members. @ttopswag gave some notable suggestions like;

• Unity

  He said we members should be unified as one. Try to help one another in any way we can on Steemit. Steemit is not a one man mopol platform, you need to be interactive and have a unified community to survive on the Platform.

• Solicit for Help from Whales

  He mentioned we ally ourselves and get help from whales who can delegate Steempower to the community account which is @lsc-project.

  So any Whale who would be willing to help our cause can contact @bcrafts on discord

• Donations by members

He also suggested the members make contributions to help the community account grow over time.

• Interaction

  He said, Members should develop a form of interaction between themselves. Stating, Interaction is one of the major key of making in it on the Steemit platform.

• Be useful

@ttopswag also made comments on members being useful to the community. That, they shouldn't expect the leaders to do every job by themselves as they are also students like them.

@olarenwaju also made suggestions to buttress the ones made by @ttopswag. His suggestion was as follows;

• Creation Of SteemAuto Account

  He mentioned we create a steemauto account in the name of the community project which was swiftly done by @bcrafts (that's me). Members were urged to follow the account and an online tutorial was done on how to go about it by @bcrafts (still me).

Miscellaneous

Food and drinks were served courtesy of @honourmaus who provided the refreshments for our members. A short break was given by our MC's for us to talk with one another. I was opportune to get the contacts of @lizbethk (my new steemit crush) and @ewuoso. Pictures were taken by members with one another before our MC's asked we all took a group photograph which we all did. Account creation was made for newbies who wanna join and one lucky individual got his account approved yesterday.

Closing Prayer

Miss @lizbethk gave us a short and concise closing prayer as we held hands for one more photograph.

Remarks

As per its my first meet-up since I joined Steemit. I couldn't contain my happiness and I kept smiling like an idiot. Though I am part of the organizers, I never expected such a large turnout. All in all, I count the meet-up as a success. I hope I get to attend more meet-up during my journey on the Steemit platform.
