NO "AFRICAN TIME" IN STEEMUP OWERRI MEGA MEETUP: 10AM IS 10AM (Plus other things to expect)

in promo-steem •  7 years ago

Hello Steemians. Welcome to my blog...welcome to the new week. It's been a long weekend kinda. For the past two days, I have not been able to update my blog and it feels like ages. I have been very busy getting things in order for the upcoming STEEMUP OWERRI MEGA MEETUP. And I can stand here and confirm to you that we have made a tremendous progress in our preparations for this mega meetup.

That said; in this article, I will be discussing a well known Nigeria issue — African time, which is used to describe deliberate inclinations not to comply with fixed time for occasions. In other words, time fixed for events are generally ignored. Average Nigerian is always very late to occasions — festivals, events, parties, ceremonies, etc. The phenomenon of "African time" has eating so deep into Nigeria society that it has become a norm. In Nigeria, fixed time for events are generally ignored because it has become a way of life. For instance, when an occasion is fixed for 2: 00pm, an average Nigerian would start preparing to attend that occasion at 2:30pm and by the time he gets there, time may well have gotten to 3:30pm.

This is how we live in this clime. Time is not taking seriously for anything. And that is exactly what motivated me into writing this article. Because, without trying to sound immodest, I am unnigerian when it comes to complying with time or keeping time. I don't joke with it. I keep time and those who know me can attest to this. When @stach 2 was launched at Uyo, I was among the very few steemians who arrived at the venue of the event before anyone else despite not coming from within Akwaibom. The same thing played out during Enugu ignite meetup; I was there before anyone else.

No "African time for Owerri Event*

You may have been wondering why I am writing on African time. Well that's because of the upcoming STEEMUP OWERRI MEGA MEETUP. And the need to inform the community that this is not going to be business as usual. There would not be "African time" this time around. The program would start at 10am prompt. We will kick off with those that are available. Because we would want to be done with the meetup on time so that Steemians who come from neighboring states can go back to their bases in day time.

Hotel rooms available at N4000 only if...

As I announced in my earlier post; you can reach out to me for hotel reservations at N4000. This is incredibly cheap, isn't it?

Lol it sounds like Africans are similar to us Filipinos because we run on "Filipino time" in my motherland too ;) That said, there's a large value to be placed on punctuality & it's great that you make sure you're always on time...tardiness is a tough habit to break! Best of luck with the meetup my friend :)

Thanks boss. That's issue here and I am trying to set the pace. Appreciate your presence on my blog.
