What is this contest about?
Yesterday at Steemfest @starkerz held a presentation. His message blew my mind. He pointed out how little support there is for Steemians who are trying to promote Steemit. If you visit the #promo-steem tag the rewards are mostly below $1. Then there was a lightbulb moment for me, basically he said : we shouldn't focus on maximizing our curation rewards with 5% to 10% each year, but we benefit more if the price goes up with 1000% or more. Right now, Steemit is still small with about 25,000 daily active users. For comparison Facebook has 2 billion. If we help the people who are promoting steemit everbody benefits when Steemit goes mainstream.

Rules
I've made a list below of Steemians who are promoting Steemit from all over the world! I will be awarding 10 SBD each week to a person who gives great support to the promoters, which can be done by a combination of upvoting, commenting, posting, re-steems and any other creative ways! You can post your contributions here below, but don't post your comments, upvotes and re-steems, I will see them as I am checking the promoters' pages.
EDIT: In addition, 50% of the liquid rewards from this post will be used to support the promoters either by buying delegation/votes or funding. The other 50% gets divided to all participants in this contest who have at least:
- Commented on 3 different posts of the promoters
- Re-steemed this post
- Comment "I pledge to support the Steemit Promoters!" below

It could have been that I couldn't see your name on the slide of starkerz. I missed a few because of the pixelated screen. I wanted to talk to him about that but he is busy now.

There is no "professional way" in promoting. To be on my list you need to show that you are promoting steemit, by posting about it. There are communities in africa such as @promo-nigeria (you can watch their blog on how they do promotion), but also individual promoters like @jeeandmee in Ghana and @reko from Sweden.
I have looked at your profile and I see that you are from South Africa it would be wonderful if you could start promoting there. I personally shall support you with upvotes and if you need a little bit of funding we could talk about.

I've also recently started some work on promoting steem in the Arab world. Started a small community (via @arabsteem) , we have a small discord channel, and aiming to further spread the word.
These initiatives I believe are key to steemit's growth.

I just read a blog called

Where @ana-maria held a contest and was shocked by how little newbies knew about how steemit works.
I commented that
In defence of all the newbies I have to say that it is very hard and confusing when you join steemit and you are not a tech wiz. There are so many different terms and tools ect. A lot of it made only sense to me after weeks of research, I don't really know why things are being made so complicated.
I personally have read enough articles where users are trying to explain steemit that contain half true facts or are only somewhat correct.
Which I only found out by cross referencing multiple sources. That is tedious and wastes too much time.
So my biggest call for developers would be to try and simplify, not everyone is a coder and for steemit to really make it as a social platform, everybody should be able to use it from day one. (My grandma uses Facebook with ease) Otherwise it will stay an insignificant playground for geeks. So promotion is important but I think it is equally important to try and help make it easier for those new members to find their way around or else they will lose interest pretty fast.
Still kudos for launching this contest and trying to promote steemit.

First of all im not part of the dev team you should relay your message to them.
Second, I somewhat agree with you. Steemit is definitely harder to in order to understand everything... however when you look at the basics, its actually a blogging platform. And making a blog post isn't harder than any other blogging platform.
In my opinion, if you only look at it as a blogging platform, its quite easy to use if you take a day or two. I am sure your grandmother didn't understand facebook in one day...
