I Am So Happy I Finally Earn an Income From Doing What I Love

I'm sharing this video on all the social media sites I am on. My friends and I have been sharing our original content and truths on other social media for years and years now, for free. All the while having to deal with censorship and disgusting advertisements shoved in our faces. These other social media sites track our google searches to tailor ads to us. When will enough be enough?

There is nothing greedy about wanting to earn a few bucks from blogging if you are providing decent content like you do babe, I find that arguement totally bogus. There have been accusations of greed here within Steemit however it's few and far between.
Sadly I fear advertisements may be inevitable in the future we will have to see especially if there is a bonafide blockchain rival, we shall see.
Not many people EVER get paid for doing what they love so you are incredibly lucky Lyndsay.

Lindsay! Good post and good words! I am familiar with the technology of the blockchain since 2013. I have more than 4 years living on the income from the bitcoin and cryptocurrency on various projects . A year ago when I found Steemit , I was glad not only to make extra money, but also to meet people from different countries. Because here I have met many interesting and talented people. This is an amazing place and I see no reason to be ashamed of what we receive income for what we love. Those people who have not yet come to us, or doubt - well? it's their choice. I think they are just wasting my time on FB and other sites. I'm glad to have met You and sincerely wish You success.

This post is awesome. I hate people who say stuff are greedy when you do something fun for money. Because if they think steemit is greedy then they can stick to their job that they hate 🤣 steemit is literally a opportunity for people to make an income from something they like but they choose to work for other people in their job they hate. Some people just wont learn 🤣🤣 good post btw and hope alot of new steemers come to the platform from this 👍

I was amongst the non-believers initially. I don’t have time to blog, I told my coworker when he told me about Steemit. Then I did my research and am now onboard! Aside from earning income for yourself, Steemit is a community that can help others do the same. This is a livelihood in some parts of the world, and I completely support the initiative of helping each other. I still don’t have time to blog, sadly, but what free time I have I do spend on here instead of other social media sites. I’m trying to get friends to join by sharing this account and exploring first. Even still, many are skeptics and don’t want to even try.

Greedy..how on earth would this be greedy. Is investing in the stock market greedy.? Selling tupperware, any type of blogging? Writing an article in the newspaper and getting paid? That's a lame argument. People are greedy for likes/comments on Social Media and that's the whole premise of these Social Media websites, "you'll keep your likes and we will keep the money"

I think it is great that you now have that second income from steemit. The naysayers just don't understand the blockchain so you must be selling information. They come around eventually. Just keep on doing what you are doing and don't pay any attention to them. It is better to march to the beat of your own drum than blindly follow...

You said it all, even you said let me name few reasons and named only 'greed reason' :P Yes, that is main reason people don't won't to join Steemit. Also major one is they don't won't to believe something like Steemit is possible.

I invite people on Steemit once every week. Little bit of problem for people from countries which don't have english as their first language is they think they must write in english all the time to succeed on Steemit. That is partially true, but if more of people join from Croatia for example you can write first part of post on english and second one translated to you native language.

But I don't give a shit about that problems, I invite them all the time and will do that all the time. Because of me 5 people directly joined Steemit. Then they invited more people and ripple effect continues...

P.S.

Madafaka laptop is coming. Thinking about making more vlogs then blogs, because it's easier to say something to me then write it in english. Fucking english bullshiters trying to conquer the world in everything including language. But no more madafaka, @cmoljoe is getting laptop hahahaha

Ironically, if you had a blog on WordPress get really popular, and got paid through advertising revenue, or your YouTube channel likewise went viral, people would more likely see it as "success" and "legitimate" and "work" instead of greedy.
The main roadblocks I have been seeing is that people find cryptocurrencies confusing, or they are dependent on Social Security payments and are afraid of losing that if they earn too much here. Of course, the perception is that SSI is permanent and certain, but as our government has proven, they will screw over the little guy the first chance they get, and nothing is certain. I at this point need food stamps to survive, but read that it's possible with the government shut down that could be cut off; not to mention the ridiculous hoop jumping they make you go through to prove you still need help, with every blip in the process made to get you kicked off the rolls so they don't have to help you anymore. I literally on Saturday went and spent the rest of the money in my food stamps account and stocked up in case it got cut off. I relish the thought of not needing them anymore. It's so soul-sucking and uncertain. I have been almost kicked off because they said didn't have documentation that I already had provided three times. And the rules around it make it clear the aim is not to help you get on your feet, but to keep you down, as evidenced in my friends' fears of earning "too much." I will be glad when I earn enough to not have to need help anymore.

Power to the stay at home Moms (and Dads too)!! I had to LOL at myself when you mentioned being force fed ads on other media sites. It really irks me to no end, but I am sitting here juggling my morning coffee, looking at Steem posts and spinning this 'Satoshi Spinner' thing on my pad while streaming ads. Ha, I guess the difference is it at least is giving me something for enduring those ads and that something can ad up to a big bonus for my kids someday ;) I really feel like it will not be long before friends/family are flooding into Steem...the future is NOW. Isn't it funny how easily the masses will be 'trained' to think it 'normal' to share all their info and make endless worthwhile content for the few corporate to make money from, but not that they also deserve reciprocity for their hard work? Oh well, the human animal has always easily been controlled, the media changes, but the formula is the same. That's probably why the few have most.

I hope this works and you bring in MORE people to our lovely Steemit! I really love this community even without the money, but I really appreciate that one can make money saying and doing what they love. And that we can GIVE money to others we love and appreciate.

And like you say if you want to see greed just take a look at bloody facebook and twitter! Indeed, they track wherever you go on the net & sell your details to advertisers. Plus they use facial recognition technology, limit your freespeech and now have the power to decide what determines fake news! Plus they're dividing the world into literal thought ghetto's .. Hey there .. yes it relates to how complex social media algorithms are increasingly dividing the public into ghetto's of thought and consistently pandering to their own worldview. When they step outside of these echo chambers it's leading to increased division between those with opposing views. Thus the exchange of ideas & debate is being slowly replaced with emotional responses and knee jerk reactions .. or something like that lol

In regards to @tremendospercy's comment about ads - I imagine they'd be able to be switched on and off in the same way NSFW content is... And anyone voluntarily viewing ads should make a % of the ad revenue... Do you think that model would be tolerable?

I'd have ads switched off mainly because my PC doesn't need the extra strain of slow loading ads... but I suppose if Steemit was collecting ad revenue, the price would skyrocket and I could have a better system :)

(And yeah, I'd still block the ads with a more powerful pc)

With so much to juggle at home its tricky to learn new platforms, but now that we find the practical application I'm going to share about it differently then we tried with tsu.

Already brought a few friends over but waiting for my gamer crew to get brave and get their asses over here.

I'm so so glad you're able to do something you love and that you've been working SO HARD on for years and have it generate income. Everything you do brightens others days, whether it be your songs of truth and humanity, your inspirational acts of kindness, or your walks and pictures motivating and bringing smiles.
You so deserve to have your financial needs met, and I know you are in no way greedy and trying to take for the sake of take. I'm sure you agree that it sucks that we need money for our food, shelter, warmth, etc, but for now we do.
I have been struggling with the decision of whether to cash in sbd to cad or power it all up. I hope I can get to a place where I feel like I can support my family if I need to.

The thing I don’t get are the people who post a ton of stuff on Facebook. Why bother going there when you can do it here and get paid? Worst case scenario is steem crashes to zero. Only thing you’ve lost is your time. You really don’t have anything to lose.

Most of us are conditioned to believe if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. You will get them to come around. We just have to let them know not to get frustrated that things take a bit of time to start moving once you come on here. But everything is worth becoming a part of this wonderful community. I love how this site is about sharing. We all depend on one another. I am hoping to get to the point that you are in my future. As I live off Social Security Disability. I am so grateful to @taskmaster4450 for telling me to come onto this site. You will succeed in getting your friends to a better place by joining this great site. We are all on our way up.

Sure, some strange friends invite him to join the social networking site steemit and is not convinced that he misleads daily browsing sites that do not reward anything

Yes, yes...so true with the ads! It's been absolutely tortuous on Facebook with the ads. I can't watch my friends videos without having to watch a 20-second ad.

I am so inspired by this post of yours. I am still new to steemit. I joined last August, but actively participated in mid December, still green though. I enjoyed my activity on this platform more than I would have imagined, steemit gives me a new hope I can depend on. I'll keep stay on this platform.

Unlike other social media, steemit has complete system to prevent its user from posting copy-pasted content or giving bad comments. So, steemit atmosphere is very different, so peaceful. People won't behave badly or they will be flagged. What a nice system.

I am tired of seeing comment war. Steemit create a powerful system to prevent that. It makes users feel comfort.

How is it greedy to make some money that helps during hard times. I have spent so much time on twitter with out earning anything. Now steemit is paying me for the same. I know it is less but still it helps out a lot.

Exactly. When I was first introduced to steemit. I found it extremely difficult to be being paid for what you love doing. And its not a freelancing stuff. But here i am. Also preaching the good news to people especially my colleagues. And even though i'm also new here. I can see a bright future of steeming

I agree with you.
Steemit is so different from other social media.
I saw a lot of people providing good quality contents. I got a lot of knowledge on steemit and I felt respected for what I posted.

Meanwhile on other social media, people tend to post bad quality contents. Comment wars are here and there, and we are not even get any reward for what we do. Just wasting time for something unuseful.

@lyndsaybowes Great video and so true, I know I am new here but in the last 2 weeks, I have been spending a lot more time here than Fb. And have phone calls daily explaining this platform to others. Already been on the phone 2x today pitching it to others. I am excited to see where the future leads, right now everyday is a learning day for me.

It is really surprising that Facebook has 1 billion users where as steemit doesn't even have 1 million users. If you think about it we are really on the ground floor of this whole thing.

Great video. I am here on steemit since july 2017. I love it but i lately joined it. I did not know about this community. I was working hard on many ways but i got nothing. I was seaching a such community where i can enjoy as well as earn money. I don't care what other people says. We all know what are you doing and it's not only a little effort but also a big initiation.

Yea it difficult to convince people to join Steemit, what makes it hard for me is the fact that it sounds too good to be true. They never believe me until I show them the earnings, then all of a sudden they want to join. I luckily got quite a few of my friends to join, but unfortunately some of them are losing interest because they are not earning a lot. But you won't make it on Steemit without a bit of hard work.

Yeah, I've heard the same argument. It's ok for YT to make money but if I make a dollar for a day's worth of work they want to question the ethics of getting paid for making a video. I have to travel, set up, shoot with 2 cameras, record sound from 2 sources, review 5 hours of footage, ditto for sound, synchronise 4 audio and video tracks, correct the soundman's mistakes, deal with drunks, low light, compile a video and hope to have something people will like. YT gets paid and I don't, ..ethics, ...sigh.... Lol!

It means that I get far more followers here than on YouTube, but on YT I would have gotten 1400 views and several DMCA violations to file. Here followers mean nothing, they are all greedy looking for that next dollar, they can't even be bothered to look at my video and tell me it sucks, which it doesn't. I have over 130 followers and get 3 votes on a video that took 2 days to create; that's what it means. They want selfies. Greetings!
