THE IMPLICATION OF BID BOT to THE FUTURE OF STEEMIT| Quality has no place on steemit anymore

in promo-steem •  6 years ago  (edited)

The minnows has no place anymore on steemit, the hope of the minnows is to write something quality to get rewarded since we don't know anybody on the platform yet.

Good morning, I'm @raymondbruce the founder on steemit_extention and co-founder of the offline minnow school.

The steemit_extention is a project setup to depopulate facebook platform and to bring individuals to the light (the world of steemit where quality is rewarded with value).

While

The offline minnow is a project setup to decentralize the offline, to guild minnows and give the hope that there is a place for them on steemit. The major exponent of this project is @bait002, he is the ideologist.

I miss promising individuals while campaigning that steemit is all about quality for value.

What is quality?

Being of good worth, well made, fit for purpose. A property or an attribute that differentiates a thing or person.Level of excellence.

Quality is the most determining factor to for the success of a post on steemit but I think that has changed due to the use of bid-bots.
You will see lots of post that are not worth it on trending, while the post that are meant to add value to peoples life, that are meant to impact on the platform are down their seeking for attention.

Even If we like it or not, bid bots exist. But it should be used to encourage talented authors to use them, not to be used to send trashy posts to trending.

To the minnows

I won't advice you to start making use of bid-bots though it is a perfect way of building your reputation but if you making use of bid-bots.

  • It will definitely cut your rewards
  • it shows desperation
  • it makes you feel relaxed that you will not see any point in dropping quality articles.

As a minnow this is the time you need to be most serious on steemit, this is the time you should show the community what you have in you, this is the time to bring out the beast in you.
Believe it or not people are watching, the upvotes may not be coming in but people are watching and taking notes.
So now is the time in your steemit life you have to add value to the community and your blog.

To bid-bots owners

I don't know how possible it is to first scan through articles submitted before upvoting them. I know that requires time, but it is worth it, if not in little or not time the steemit system will crash.

To curators

We really appreciate your works, but I think it will be more preferable if you look for posts with high quality but low rewards to upvote. Forget about trending posts, it's already on trending, use your upvotes to touch peoples lives.

Conclusion

I'm not saying bid-bots are bad, no but I think they are being abused or not used for the right reasons.
The platform steemit is meant to be used to reward quality and valuable articles, so what we are to be expecting on trends are most or top valuable and quality articles.
But due to the help of bid-bots reverse is the case.

If this is not taken to consideration the number of active users will decrease, just individuals capable of making use of those bots will remain

Hey Raymond,

Well said! I touched on this topic in my witness declaration, see the link below. Especially for minnows I think it is very important. Using bid bots will most likely harm long-term prospects but gives short-term gratification. almost like a drug...

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@danielsaori/witness-announcement-new-witness-on-the-block-partnering-with-davemccoy

Facebook use likes for that very reason ( dopamine ) bid-bots seem to give people the same rush, almost like a mini high, and like any drug, they come back for another fix day after day. Or if possible multiple times a day. :-)

Normal upvotes should give the same kick. :)
Imagine being curated and receiving big upvotes after producing some awesome content. Wouldn't that actually be 10x more exciting? Ah! But that requires, of course, to put in the work to produce that content. Bid bots don't care about that.... 😜

I rest my case your honour.

it's the most effective strategy now that's why people are using them. The only way to change is as it was intended is to make fundamental Changes and incentivise manual curation. I only manually curate, never sold my vote or autovoted and it's very effective if You use it preoperly and are taking advantage of Tools like SteemFollower. The bid bots aren't the problem they way the system is structured att and as You say it's very hard to get noticed without them atm...

Reko_3

It is hard, though I feel it my duty to myself, to get noticed and supported for the right reasons, and not just because of a perceived notion that my writing is worth more than it actually is just because I use bots, I can liken it to haejin, he has a perceived massive appeal based on 1 up-voter, that has got him 25000+ followers in 9 months. Take away ranch and he is left with a hundred 0.00 to 0.01cent votes. Is it the right way to go for me (no bidbots) only time will tell I suppose. I added you to following and look forward to talking to you again.

I'm glad we share same view @danielsaori

Nice! And resteemed.
Though i think these ideas would take time because these bots are profit oriented, i think more whales should be sensitized on the need to encourage minnows on the network.

Minnows are tne base rock of steemit and if we are to see continuity in the community, minnows need be encouraged.

I think you are right,
Minnows are the future ways, they are the future of steemit.

Informative post...

I agree bid bots are probably here for the long term now so its best to work out ways to manage their use and make the platform fiar for everyone and not just those who have loads of money to throw around. I think there should be some kind of quality control where bot bids should be atleast randomly checking content for quality. I use bots from time to time and have found them fairly effective

My answer is to have an 'organic' trending where bot votes are deducted:

Yes I agree, I feel like giving up and I have only been on here 2 months.
