Hello Steemians! With almost one month left to prepare, the Steem Summit organizers and supporters are starting to achieve the objectives of the pre-summit activities. The pre-summit activities are designed to:

  1. lay the groundwork for the Steem Summit to the Steemit Community;
  2. establish the identity of the Steem Summit;
  3. gather support, of any kind, from Steemians;
  4. uphold accountability, transparency and correspondence through the organizers; and
  5. involve the whole steemph.cebu community in the event.


The organizers are extremely grateful that the calls were heeded. The organizers recognize that this event is a collaborative effort in that they are but initiators and the community's participation is essential to make this an overall success.

This series update aims to let all of you to get caught up with all things summit-related. Don’t forget to hit the upvote and resteem buttons to show your support! Starting from the release of the Manifesto last March 4, 2018; here are the key important details that have happened since:


Laying the Groundwork for Steem Summit

The Steem Summit, being the first of its kind in the country, needed to be defined thoroughly so that its identity is communicated clearly. Here are the posts that serve as the foundation for this event:

Steem Summit Manifesto. This post talked about the objectives of the event. It also established the need for the summit and what makes it different from the monthly meet-ups.

Steem Summit Branding. This post discussed the need for setting up an identity for the summit. It also highlighted the important key considerations made to come up with the branding for the event.

Steem Summit Organizers’ Profile. This post introduced the key people responsible for this event. This was done to ensure accountability, transparency and correspondence.

Steem Summit Financial Statement. This post presented the budget schedule with the corresponding percentage contingency for the different expenditure categories for the event. It also made mention of the sources of the funds.

Steem Summit Official Announcement. This post announced the most-awaited details of the event: the venue and date of the summit.

Call for Submissions

As the Steem Summit aims to promote Cebuano passions and talents, visual and performing artworks are to be featured in the event. For the visual arts category, an exhibit will showcase the chosen works of art while a program will feature the winning performance art pieces. Interested artists are to submit their entries to be judged correspondingly by qualified evaluators.

Steem Summit’s Call for Exhibit Panelists. This post called for 3 panelists for each of the categories: poetry, travel posts, art, and photography. Qualifications for becoming a judge were included, too.

Steem Summit’s Call for Performance Judges. This post called for 3 performance judges for each of the categories: singing, beatbox, spoken word poetry, and dance. Qualifications for becoming a judge were included, too.

Other Initiatives

Steem Summit Financial Updates.
The financial executive committee will be preparing these at least once every week. This is to make sure that every cent intended for the summit is accounted for. This is also done to maintain the trust that the sponsors have initially expressed to the organizers.

Steem Summit Status Updates.
As with this post, the status updates aim to recap what had been posted over the past week and provide a sneak peek of what’s to come in the following week. This also serves as the concise directory of all things related to the summit.



What to Expect this Week

Call for Photography and Beatbox Submissions.
All those interested to perform in the summit with their beatbox numbers are encouraged to look out for the post on the details of the beatbox entry submissions. Keep your eyes peeled on this page this week!

Announcement of Winners for Art and Singing Competition.
All of those who submitted their entries for the art and singing categories will be thrilled to know who the winners are this week. The winners and the runners-up will be receiving SBD prizes. The art and song winners also get to showcase their piece in the exhibit and program, respectively.

The organizers hope that you’re all as excited for this as they are! May the community see the value in itself and not lose heart with the declining monetary value of SBD.
