Summary Of The Ibadan Steemit Meetup. History Was Created.

If you did not make it to the Ibadan meetup, do not worry youself, I have the full summary of the event here for you, stay excited as you read through the summary post.

Before the event, @nairadaddy, @nmalove @samstickkz and I had fun making steemit videos for @dtube and taking pictures for sola. @nairadaddy was also preparing for his presentation, as we all gave him few ideas and some little talk to fill in.

The event started by 2:00pm at the wenovation hub, 3rd floor, Alpha and Omega building, Queen Elizabeth II road, beside carlcare building, 200281 Ibadan Nigeria.

This guys are so fabolous, their ability and style to handle the event was exceptional, they are so entertaining and filled with fun, these were the. Est selection of people to brew the event.

They were also the hosts of the red carpet, as all the stemians took perfect pictures with different poses. The red carpet proved that we have stemians that are photogenic with great camera familiarity. See pictures from the red carpet below:

There was an introduction of guest by @tojukaka where every stemian from different cities were mentioned. Other steemians in the house were also recognized,

Presentation 1 - Blockchain & Cryptocurrency by @samstickkz

Sam started with the explanation of Blockchain and its importance to steemit, he made everyone define Blockchain in their own way, and gave an example with a Nigerian meal call "ewa igoyin"
He also talked about "Blocktivity", how steem is built on the steemit Blockchain and other types of Blockchains. He made reference to coinmarketcap.com, the properties and functions of the website and how they all can be used.

Presentation 2 - Steemit - by @tojukaka

Tojukaka mentioned the founders of Steemit, the purpose of creating the platform, the functions of the steemit Blockchain to promote Steem.
Tojukaka made reference to the steem logo and the steemit logo, because people misinterpret the two of them.
The core values of steemit:

  • Value for value
  • No fees
  • Long term instead of get rich quick
  • Community
  • Non-violence
  • Quality

He mentioned the two things to invest on the platform:

  • Time
  • Money
    You can either invest one of them or stay broke.
    Relationship on steemit also matters @tojukaka said, your posts become real when you are friends with people on steemit.

Presentation 3 - Newbie's Plague - by @gee1

She talked about plague as a disease that newbies experience on the steemit Blockchain.

A lot of newbies write her up directly complaining of what they suffer as new members on the Blockchain and how their post hardly make a dollar, even when their posts have great quality.

She gave the best ways newbies can stay relevant on the platform, better ways to get people follow you and how to earn good amount of SBD as a newbie.

Presentation 4 - STACH - by @ejemai

Ejemai talked about his time on Facebook, how he was nobody on the platform, he explained how the steemit platform is a similar place as Facebook but with a different opportunity.
His presentation made us understand how other social medias has fooled us, how our time has been spent on these platforms without a dime earned.

The STACH "Steem Acceleration Hub" has come a long way, he started the project with no money, how he struggled to get his phone charged, and how he struggled to get internet to blog on steemit has made the project a success today.

The project is meant to decentralize the offline, and it has been successful with the number of hubs created in the country Nigeria

Presentation 5 - Steemit Etiquette by @thelovejunkie

Come to steemit with a purpose, not just to make money but with ideas that could change the platform for good. There are guidelines that should be followed in other to be successful on steemit:

  • Do not post and disappear
  • Do not over post
  • No nude
  • Don't be fake, don't plagiarise or pass of other people's post as yours
  • Don't resteem every post you see
  • Don't post links on comments
  • Don't beg for upvotes
  • Don't expect reciprocal votes
  • Don't bribe for votes or ask directly for money
  • Don't be a stalker or troll
  • Don't be a drama king or queen
  • Do share great posts.
  • Don't use the wallet to gain attention
    She also gave general advice from her own perspective and overview.

Presentation 6 - Password Security by @ehiboss

Beware of spams and scams, any message on your memo that is not officially from steemit asking you to do something outside the steemit Blockchain. He gave some reasons why it's important to safeguard your password:

  • prevention of identity theft/impersonation
  • prevention of lost of fund
  • prevention of loss of everything built
  • accountability of actions are guaranteed

He also talked about possible ways to save your password either on your draft folder on any email, notes or in a written form.

Presentation 7 - Steemit Abuse and Flagging by @gbenga

The following things where what Gbenga talked about

  • Plagiarism
  • Identity theft
  • Deceptive tagging
  • Verbal abuse/written abuse
  • Scam
  • Spam
  • Tag spam
  • Rogue bots
    Harassment and personal attack

It's essential you report to the appropriate team (steem cleaners) anytime you see a steemit abuse in order to keep the system clean.

Presentation 8 - How to bring your ideas to steemit by @nairadaddy

@nairadaddy is the man behind @air-clinic. The online hospital is an idea, which came from his thinkings on how to bring online care to the world, and steemit was the best platform to deliver his idea.
He told people about the benefits of Air-clinic and how to benefit from it. His ideas are all for the benefit of human, his efforts are mainly how to make medications online perfectly ready for the Blockchain.

Presentation 9 - SteemApps by @destinysaid

Steemit has come a long way, bringing other extensions to promote the steem coin. @dtube, @dsound @dlive @zappl and @busy has done a lot the improve the platform.

He gave some advice to YouTubers, "spending your time on youtube is same as spending your time on facebook, it's better to be on dtube and get paid".

Nice work putting steemit out there...I missed the last Abuja Meet-Up but I intend to be at the next one. Any idea when the next Abuja meet up might be?
