My Promo-Mentors Writing Challenge: My Life As President.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I realized that something isn’t right. I don’t recognize my bedroom. The walls are different; it is much bigger and everything looks fancy like in a palace or mansion. Am I still dreaming? Where am I? I pinch myself to make sure that I’m awake, and outch! Yes, I’m definitely awake! I get up, and slowly walk around. I pass in front of a mirror, and then terror strikes me. Who is that person staring back at me? That isn’t me, I’m in someone else’s body, someone who looks strangely familiar. I need a moment to digest what’s happening, but I’m suddenly interrupted by someone knocking on the door: “ Mr President, your limousine is waiting!”
Mr President? This could be a blessing in disguise after all...

Imagine! I get to be president for God knows how long! I can feel my mind churning with ideas both terrible and good ones. I feel torn between making a better life for me and my family, doing selfish things and doing something for the good of the citizens of Nigeria.

As i dress up, i keep thinking about the reality of being an average Nigerian and the situation i find myself. Who would have thought? You should see the foolish smile in my face as i grin from ear to ear.

"Mr President!"
"Sir, you are going to be late!"

That voice jolted me into action as i finished dressing up and walked out the door.

Oh boy! It felt so good to be worshipped by everyone. I just had the perfect little wave and silly smile i see him wear on tv. As i rode in the limo, i thought about what i would accomplish.

Assuming i get to be president for a few hours, i need realistic goals that can be achieved in that time frame.

Urrrggghhh! How i wish i had a personal witch or wizard. Better still, a soothsayer that can tell me how this thing works. It would be so nice to know how long i have to stay president. At that moment, i just wanted to be president forever.

I do wonder where the real president is. Could he be in my own body? Lol...i would love to see his...my fce when he woke up to see he is just a typical everyday Nigerian girl.

At last, i decided to take it one day at a time. If i woke up tomorrow morning in my own bed and in my own body, then i want to make sure i sleep satisfied this night that i have done my best for my country and family as well as my real self. So i would share my to-do-list for a president in one day.

First, i would subsidize food items. Food items are so expensive a poor man finds it difficult to eat three square meals in a day. Subsidy would be my major objective for the day.

Second, i would subsidize fuel. This would help point number one a lot.

Third and last, i would try to increase the minimum wage to more than twice the amount.

This would be my checklist for the day.

Perhaps tomorrow, i would think about what change i can effect in the country but for today, i have tasks to fufil.

Let's get down to business! President @cheekah here to do the little she can for the country.

P.s I just hope his wife and children would be out of the country. If they are not, then the avoid strategy would be effective. Don't blame me, who wants to be found out in that situation?
