THE MOST MEMORABLE DAY OF MY LIFE
Hardwork they say truly pays!..This was not an exception.
I have had quite a numbet of memorable experiences, but this is special because it was not planned for.
On this very day, I was the Best Graduating Female student from the Faculty of Engineering, not only that, I was also the overall best student, clearing 4.0 on a 4.0 scale which was a milestone and a first of its kind!
This day I would always remember....
THE DATE
It was November 2011 at exactly 12:25 pm when this event took place at the Polytechnic Sport complex.
THE PROCESS
I remember gainning admission at a very critical time, where my parents could not really afford giving me luxury and everything I wanted, from the inception of my admission the devil tried so many things to discourage me, my WAEC result was withheld, I had to sit for another exams, meanwhile I continued lectures in the Polytechnic without admission and O'levels, the luck I had was that we were given a long time frame for our registrations. This was indeed one of the most challenging decisions I took all my life which I never regretted.
I really pondered on so many things, if this was my fate or perharps was not God's will for me.
But however bad the case was I needed to move because for me standing was not an option.
I proceeded for lectures and later got admitted after tendering my O' level results. As the semester proceeded, I discovered that more than half of the class students were made up of guys, and adjusting to this suddenly became a major problem for me. Normally during lectures I would sit in the middle or at the back were no one would spot me since I was very shy and after lectures I would quickly take my bag home or go to the library to read.
Funny enough I never knew so many persons took note of me and delibrately wanted to be friends. I agreed to give it a try.
I knew I was supposed to study in the university but since that opportunity was not coming, I tried something else.
We had to solve and calculate things we cannot see but could comprehend.
At the end of the senester, the results were out and glory to God I was number 16 on the list. Some of my lecturers called me to encourage me and expressed joy over my performance, but little did dey know that I was quite ignorant and deeply thought I was just lucky.😀😀
The next semester I moved to 10th position in my department, the thrid semester was on 5th position, and the final semester was on position 1(one) with a cummulative clinching to the Second position in department.
This did not just earn me an applause in the midst of men, it gave me fame, opportunities and access to so many things that would not have come naturally.
As a matter of fact I proceeded with a Distinction
and countinued my studies in the University where I obtained a B.Eng in Civil Engineering with distinctive grades.
Glory to God!
THE BELIEF
Many believe Engineering was for the intelligent alone. The truth was I never took my academics in secondary school very serious, but would say
time and chance favoured me.
I worked for my grades, I eared them and worked my way to the top. Because nothing good comes easy.
THE PEOPLE
At this time of my life I met so many wonderful people who I am still in touch with today, they inspire me, they commended me, they encouraged me, they kept in touch and most & especially supported me and this made me to reach my full potential.
THE VICTOROUS MOMENT
This moment I said to my self it would decide so many things about my life. I needed to pull through...
On that faithful day the result was pasted exactly 4pm. I headed towards the notice board, as I did, people came closer to congratulate me....i knew something was happening. I quickly checked and saw reasons to be thankful to God. Many are still yet to recover from this shock.
THE POWER OF WORDS
The only thing I remembered was praying to God for this day to come and it did came. I kept procalaiming victory and confessing victory.
Till we meet again I would leave us with this words, Do not just climb up, but work your way up.
APPRECIATION
My profound gratitute goes to @futurethinker for bringing up this contest and taking me down memory lane.
