English version
Mount Goh is a mountain which is administratively located in Bireuen regency of Aceh province. Having a height of 903 Mdpl is certainly not a peak that is difficult to conquer. That is how people think.
With a relatively low elevation does not make Mount Goh lose its dashing. This is evidenced by the statement of the locals that there has never been a climber who managed to conquer the peak, at least after the Dutch colonial period when the first pillar as a top marker of Mount Goh made. Based on the statement, Mapala Alaska felt called to be able to tread the peak that was mentioned full of the mystery.
The expedition was called "Red and White Independence Summit Goh Expedition, Climbing the Peak of a Thousand Question Marks ", from the student of Nature Lovers (Mapala) Alaska University of Almuslim Bireuen-Aceh.
This event is one of the actions of Red and White Flag Raising on August 17th on Indonesia Independence Day and the celebration of 10th anniversary of UKM PA-LH Alaska which was first declared on August 17, 2005 on Sabang Island-Aceh.
From Bireuen City, the access to starting point through road traffic of Bireuen - Central Aceh, then enter the sub district of road traffic to Salah Sirong village, Jeumpa Subdistrict. Throughout the journey, our eyes will be treated to a panoramic plantation and settlement of a simple but beautiful, as well as the stretch of Watershed in Peusangan flowing through 5 districts / cities in Aceh.
Salah Sirong village is the place where the beginning of the story begins. After reporting the arrival of the team to the local village head, the team was allowed to rest in one of the local TPA study rooms and then spent the night there while checking the latest equipment, logistics, and condition of the 15 team members, consisting of 8 summit team and 7 others as support team. The final check is one of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be performed in a Travel / Ascent Management.
The briefing agenda of team that night was attended by village head and some locals who often hunt forest, so that at least they understand the conditions around the foot of Mount Goh. The results of that briefing concluded that there would be one representative of the local population who were part of the summit team members. The goal is to accompany the climbing summit team and be a living witness if we become the first team to reach the top.
Saturday August 15, 2015; the sun shining brightly started our steps. Armed with Carriel on the shoulders, all team members did the last briefing closed with a prayer together to smooth our expedition that morning. The panorama of Mount Goh peak from a distance seemed to call us to immediately set our feet there.
On Sunday morning, at around 00:30 pm we just got a suitable location for camping. Under the rain, all the team members rushed to set up tents, turned on the fire, cooked, and certainly did not forget to brew coffee as tired release and body warming. The night passed so briefly, the exhaustion of climbing all day until night gnawed at every body of the team members that ultimately forced the body to fall and eyes closed in our dreams.
Birds chirping started our morning. The sunny weather of the day was enough as a sign that nature welcomed us so warmly. Today our climbing route was down to a long hill, then down the valley and then back up on the next hill. We continuously went through the paths of the valleys; the spring path on the basement valley was always being our target to release our thirst.
The journey continued, but there were different activities than usual that we do along the path of climbing. Yes, Alaska Mapala Expedition this time did not only aim to reach the peak, but also a scientific expedition that aimed to take some scientific data as a report later.
The scientific data which we collected include altitude, temperature, humidity, soil pH, as well as the inventory of flora-fauna with interval point of coordinate research per 100 meters of travel path.
That afternoon, Sunday, August 16, 2015; precisely at 17:47 WIB, the face of all members of the team were full of happiness, although we still hoe dozens kilogram loads on shoulder and sweat dampened our clothes. This situation occurred shortly after our team leader and navigator opened a piece of A0 size paper containing a Topographic Map complete with other navigation tools like Global Position System (GPS) and compass. From the results, it was concluded that our position at that time to the summit of Mount Goh was only ± 500 meters, with elevations ranging from 20-30 Meters. Of course it is a distance that is close enough for us.
After briefing session, the team decided to stay at the location at that time. Tents, mattresses, logistics and various other equipments were one by one out of our carriel. Some equipment and documentation tools also came out from my carriel who is a member of summit team of documentation field. That night after the meal, accompanied by a cup of coffee and a light snack our briefing felt more relaxed, with the bonfire dancing in front of the eyes adding to the warmth of the night before we finally came back in our dreams.
Monday morning, August 17, 2015; the day seemed so bright, as light as our mood that was preparing for the memorial of two great historical agendas, the 70th Indonesian Independence day and the 10th anniversary of Mapala Alaska. Our step began by praying together in a burning spirit to complete the mission of the expedition. That day our steps seemed so light and dashing, the picture of the peak of Mount Goh that pictured minded all members of the team managed to bring energy and spirit that were greater than usual.
At 08.45 WIB is a time note where our new history was carved, the peak of Mount Goh is full of question marks, folklore of mystical and myths, the statement of the locals that no climbers are able to reach its peak, as well as some other opinions about this impossible expedition have been successfully managed by us to proof with the real footprints standing there together with reverberating Adzan echo dividing the morning wind, as a form of our gratitude to Allah; the Creator and Almighty.
Exactly at 09.00 am, the Independence Day ceremony above Goh Peak was started. The atmosphere of emotion with great gratitude was felt when the Indonesian National Anthem echoed with the accompanying the Red and White fluttering in the wind at that time. Quiet atmosphere in the ceremony was ended by praying together.
Our activity at Goh ended with the installation of the Red and White Flag on one of the tallest trees on the peak lying just off the cliff. We did it as a sign to the locals that our steps had arrived there. After capturing some valuable moments as documentation, at 11:54 pm the team moved down with a direct target to reach the village without spending more night. The trip down which can be called "Kebut Gunung" was ushered us to the residential area at 02.31 WIB which was greeted by the joys of the support team and some residents who attended.
The next day, the Red and White Flag on Goh peak became a witness that the "Red and White Independence Expedition" Mapala Alaska in 2015 has been completed, and the "Peak of a Thousand Question Marks" was successfully sited.
No matter how high the mountain you climb, how heavy the terrain is to go through, as the spirit continues to burn in the heart, there is no higher mountain than your knee when you are at the top.

Versi Indonesia
Sabtu 15 Agustus 2015; matahari bersinar cerah mengawali langkah kami.
Kicuan burung sahut-menyaut mengawali pagi kami.
Tepat pukul 09.00 WIB Upacara Hari Kemerdekaan diatas Puncak Goh kami mulai.
