Every time Steemit I find something that I don't like in Steemit I think "Oh but it is ok, it is still a beta after all, it will be fine", an open beta, with hundreds of thousands of users... with two coins costing $5.86(Steem) $7.71(SDB) each, producing more wealth for its users each day than any beta I ever had heard of, and with two year of development under its belt and an incoming fork 20 that will change a lot of things.
Well maybe if Steemit hits the amazing 1 million users it would stop being a beta right? No? Well, you are correct, the amount of user has nothing to do with the status of a software, well then if not 2 years, then 5 years of development? No? Why not? Oh, you are right, time is also not something the development team would use to measure the progress of a software... ok let’s just said that Steemit is forever in beta and call the day, that would do it? No?
Alright, let’s stop cracking jokes already, I don't have any problem if you said Steemit is in beta forever, heck we can call all software a beta, because they all need to be updated for improvements and flaws all the time. "beta" it is just a label we put on things that means "there is going to be flaws in it", I get it, Steemit is a new thing and there is going to be flaws in it.
What it bothers me, is the "beta" in the logo, kind of saying this site can't not be trusted, a shield for when something bad happens, and above all, something that makes new users lose their trust in Steemit when they enter for the first time, and the first thing they see is that logo and those 4 letters and said "wait, this is still a beta?" bringing their interest down a notch, and you guessed it, here is the problem for me, because Steemit is all about trust.

I think this four letter word in the logo, is hurting Steemit more than you think and should be removed instead of being use in the logo like a shield to ward off against critics and complains when something goes wrong. Every software has its own flaws, but they don't ship any box with a label that says, "hey don't trust in us because we are in a beta".
Steemit needs to give the new user the trust they need to get them starting to make new a post and it is not doing it while saying it is still a beta that instead of being a shield for developers, being in "beta" is a sword that it is hurting Steemit more than it is protecting.
Thank you for reading this post, this is my opinion on how we can slightly improve the user trust in Steemit, the world is full of ideas and opinions and thanks to Steemit we can shared it and be reward for it at the same time. Make a post and share how we can improved Steemit even if just a little bit.
Interesting, from background Beta just means it's being developed - not necessarily that it's untrust worthy. I think it can be in Beta as long as it needs to be as long as the Developers want as long as they communicate their goals, and have a road map for leaving Beta and full release. More communication would build trust.

Sadly most people don't think like that, beta is something that means unfinished ergo untrustworthy, but here is a secret, no software is ever finished, like ever, it only stops being supported, and the "it is ok because is a beta" will only hurt a software on the long run, at what point is not ok? 5 years? 10? I only think we should call this as they are.

Good point. I think Steemit could manage being in beta for maybe two more years before than need to release the full version. As long as they communicate where they are going, and when they will be there - it would be better then beta purgatory. We will have to see.

Interesting points and I too succumb to the "It's ok it's in beta" mentality sometimes.
Honestly not sure if a non beta steem will exist. Time will tell!

I am victim of it as well , there is a point when it stops working, and using it only hurts the site more than it helps
