Lamborghini Squadra Corse has set a new record: one of the most prolific motorsport departments in the world has produced 300 Huracán racing cars since 2015, including both Super Trofeos and GT3s. The 300th one to roll off the assembly line in Sant’Agata Bolognese was a stunning Huracán Super Trofeo Evo, the new model that will make its debut in April at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo in Europe, Asia and North America. The one-make three continental series, which has reached its tenth edition, will star this new super sports car which raises the already high standards of the previous one. Aerodynamics are completely redesigned, safety is improved thanks to new devices, and the mechanics and electronics underwent numerous improvements. The result is a highly efficient and professional race car sure to give you goosebumps.
"In 2017, for the seventh consecutive year, Automobili Lamborghini set a new production record, with 3,815 road cars delivered. Equally extraordinary is the number of racing cars that Lamborghini Squadra Corse has produced in just three years since the launch of the Huracán Super Trofeo and Huracán GT3, proving that the growth trend of our brand is definitely positive also with regards to motorsport customers,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Very few motorsport departments worldwide manufacture their own racing cars totally in-house, and Lamborghini Squadra Corse is one of these. The Super Trofeo Evo, manufactured on the same assembly line as the Huracán road version and the model designed for GT racing Huracán GT3, is planning to reach about 70 units by the end of 2018. Skilled and qualified technicians from the Motorsport department follow the racing Huracáns along each station to ensure maximum care in the assembly.
“The fact of building racing cars by applying the same model of the series production,” said Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, “is a considerable added value. In this way, production times are reduced and the highest quality control standards are guaranteed, which, in the case of a racing car, translates into greater reliability on the track.”
Lamborghini Accademia is one of the three pillars of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the specialist team dedicated to motorsport including the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series and GT Customer Racing. From 2013, the Squadra Corse provides an integrated approach to Lamborghini driving experiences. The Lamborghini Accademia, on both track and ice, provides driver training and the initial steps towards racing.
