Who works for someone else? A small company? A large corporate company? Or do you work for yourself?
This year has been the start of realising that I no longer want to work for anyone ever again. I want to be my own boss. I want to be in control of when I can take holidays without having to ask someone else. I want to take time off to go and do the things I want to do without needing approval from my employer/line manager or anyone else.
How am I going to do this?
Through property. Or in American terms, Real Estate. Yes - Real Estate. I have proved to myself this year that I can start a business in property with very little money, and with other peoples property. All legal and above board. I can help people with their problems, issues or situation, whilst earning money from it, and being my own boss and being in control of my future, for the first time ever.
I knew nothing about property, really, at the start of this year. I now know a little bit about the industry. I know enough to have started a business, which I have sold to (my now ex) business partner last month, and start a new business in property with a different strategy, this time all on my own.
There is a wealth of information out there to learn about all the new creative strategies in the current open property market to become financially free, and have more time to do the things in life I want to do without having to ask someone's approval. Again, this is another first for me, to be in control of my financial destiny.
I now host a local (informal) property meet-up for like-minded property investors to get together in a pub/bar once a month, network and discuss business strategies and build potential JV partnerships. Its great. Connecting people and learning from others is very satisfying.
Im based in the north of England and if anyone would like to know more information (for free btw... I just want to try and help others get started) on whether property is right for you, then I'd be more than happy to talk with you and explain some of the creative strategies that work in the UK market. The principles are the same for other countries. Some of them can be applied in just the same way.
Here is a small list of some of the creative strategies that are working right now:
Lease Options - Buying a house for £1/$1
Delayed Completions
Rent-to-Rent
HMO (House of Multiple Occupation)
Commercial to Residential conversions
Serviced Accommodation
The crucial thing to be aware of, is to understand what your "WHY" is. Mine is to make my mother proud of me, for my daughter to grow up knowing her dad is a successful person and has set a good future for her and to help my ex wife get her first property, as I still care for her a lot. Those are my main "WHY's". So I encourage you, if you already haven't, to find your "WHY" in life, and start taking action.
Like it, a point I would add is that payment by the hour/week/month/year is the antithesis of capitalism. Capitalism is the acknowledgement that all things have a subjective value, never an objective value. To demand that an employer or employee set an objective value on the time they exchange is to reject time's subjective value. One year I may feel I have more value than the other, or even second to second(my time is suddenly more valuable if a family or friend called and wants me for some reason). This idea of pay for the time is how communism starts its infusion into society.
