Telepath's Dilemma

in prose •  6 years ago  (edited)

Can you feel me across the distance?
The delicate tickle of my mind, desperate
to fully connect with yours.
I can feel you swat me away.
Paranoid that I am some sinister shadow
come to trick you out of your thoughts.
I don't blame you, not in the least.
It is hard to believe in something more
when every thing you've ever believed
has turned out to be a vicious lie.
But, sometimes, you have to take a chance.
Leap with faith and I will catch you.
I promise I am strong enough.

I extend myself out to you in
small pictures and short sentences.
Always seeking to begin a conversation.
Though my attempts only ever make
you fear that you've finally gone off
the deep end, falling into Insanity.
I'm sorry
Telepathy isn't real, communication
can only be visible, tangible, verbal.
Never sensed or sensible.
Yet, here we are arguing over time
and distance about whose voice is
real inside the other's mind.
Is it yours or is it mine?
Hear me out, perhaps we are both real
and just too scared to feel something
more than what we are, what we've been told we are.
Or maybe, and this is entirely possible,
Maybe, I'm the crazy One.

Hey I like this. Yeah you are probably the crazy one, because I am pretty sure I am not real. But ya never know :) BTW your last name Gilead is my middle name :) (Carl Gilead Nash)

Gilead's unite! Lol thanks for the feedback I'm alright with being the crazy one :D

I've actually spent far more time than one ought to attempting to send emotions and telepathic messages to others. I'm convinced that phones are just an inferior copy of an innate means of communicating that we already possess. But like your words suggest.. I feel both parties need to be open to it and paying attention to what may be being transmitted.

It seems like even telepathy has its limits, @phantasmagoric. :) I like how you portray the connection here, and that you also consider verbal or what you can see communication to be the true form. I think we are in an age where people wish to have some kind of power or ability to stand out, whereas what I see you saying is, even with telepathy, you'll be who you are still, which may mean arguing over the mundane. :)

Or, it could all be in your head. Which means, you're arguing with yourself, which presents its own set of issues, and reveals. :)
