Everything in the world may be endured except continual prosperity. (Goethe)

in prosperity •  4 years ago

This is a quote that once again has made me think. Is it really so? Of course, it is hard to speak from my own experience, because I haven't really experience continual prosperity. But, if I would... would it breally be so hard to endure?

I guess it is easy to sit in the place of a poor and look at everyone with money and everyone prosperous and envy their lives. And when you see topics in online magazines about a celebrity who took an overdose or did some other "stupid" thing, you might feel amazed and wonder how someone so successful and prosperous could do such a thing? That is a valid question, but I guess the truth is found also in the quote from Goethe - it isn't necessarily so easy to be succesful at all times!

Everything in the world may be endured except continual prosperity.

What do you make of this quote? I would love to hear your thoughts!
