The glory, the perfect fame, belongs only to the Lord, the God of Israel, the Psalm 105 tells us because only the Lord is wise, omnipotent, and perfect; and by his mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) and his admirable deeds, he provides with his spiritual goods and material blessings to those who fear him. And in response to the magnificent actions of the Lord, the people of Israel thank their God with a beautiful psalm of praise and thanksgiving:
"Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice" Psalm 105:1-3.
The Psalm 105 is also a reminder of the lives of the patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Abraham was a man who lived in Harran and pleased God, and because of his righteousness and fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), he was chosen to be the father of a great nation, God made a pact with him: "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit" Psalm 105:11.
He was very old and he became the father of Isaac, whom God asked to sacrifice him, but God tested Abraham's fidelity, and a ram was sacrificed instead of Isaac.
Isaac married Rebecca and had Esau and Jacob as sons. In a fight with an angel Jacob was blessed and was called Israel, and from him descended all the tribes of Israel.
God gave these patriarchs his spiritual protection to fulfill his plan of salvation, and especially the lord granted them his advice to protect them from deception and oppression. This is how the Bible relates and describes those times:
"When they were but few in number,
few indeed, and strangers in it,
they wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another.
He allowed no one to oppress them;
for their sake he rebuked kings:
´Do not touch my anointed ones;
do my prophets no harm´" Psalm 105:12-15.
