Psalm 1 is the most important song in the book of psalms, it is the clearest antecedent of the doctrine of the Kingdom of God announced by Jesus, it is the ethical psalm par excellence; this psalm affirms a first truth, an axiom about human behavior, man has to choose between two mutually exclusive paths, the path of truth (precision and accuracy) and the path of error: "The LORD protects everyone who follows him, but the wicked follow a road that leads to ruin.", Psalm 1:6.

This Psalm is the basis of many others in the book, this psalm has to be understood within a larger context within the book: "Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long.", Psalm 25:4- 5; "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him", Psalm 103:13; "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity.", Psalm 133:1.
There is a path of blessing that is ordered to wisdom, the perfect science, the knowledge of the correct means to live; this is the path that leads to true happiness and the ultimate goal of man according to the biblical wisdom of the Old Testament, the spiritual gift of immortality: "Knowing you is perfect righteousness. Recognizing your power is where immortality begins.", Wisdom 15:3; "Reflecting on these things, and considering in my heart that immortality lies in kinship with Wisdom.", Wisdom 8:17.
And there is another path a path of perdition that responds to falsehood, this path that is the path of error that inevitably leads sinners and the impious to death and ruin because it distances us from God. This is why many songs in the book are dedicated to conversion, and to the request for the gift of wisdom, to love life and thus fulfill God's design, increase the order and perfection of the universe.
