The Kingdom of God is a mystery revealed to the humble of heart: "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" in Matthew 5:3.
Vanity and pride instead, lead to the wrong path, explains the gospel: "Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become ´fools´ so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: ´He catches the wise in their craftiness", 1 Corinthians 3:18-19.
Jesus reveals the mysteries of the Kingdom to the simple and humble of heart, "the babes", because they are the ones who need to be converted: the oppressed, the hopeless, the forgotten, and the anguished.
Jesus performs many signs: he heals the centurion's servant (Matthew 8: 5-13), calms the storm (Matthew 8: 23-27), he taught to the crowd the beatitudes in Matthew 5:2-12 and the love for the enemies in Matthew 5:43-48.
It is then that Jesus thanks God, because he favors those who know the Fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability) and are not guided by the pride that sometimes brings power and knowledge:
"At that time Jesus answered and said, ´I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to the babes. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.´
´All things have been committed to me by the Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.´
´Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.´", Matthew 11:25-30.
