Heavy Psychedelic Acid Guitar tune with powerfully angelic female vocals that float above the musical madness!
According to Psychedelicized, Axe was from Northampton, England and formed in the late 1960s. They released their one album, called Music in 1969 or 1970.
Some of the tracks can be called early Progressive Rock, some are heavy metal Psychedelic, and some have a little of each!
The song I am familiar with, is called Strange Sights And Crimson Nights. It has some milder electric acoustic guitar parts that remind me of Ramble On by Led Zeppelin. The singer, Vivienne Jones seems to have some classic music training and a high opera-like voice, kind of like we've heard lately from bands like Night Wish and other symphonic metal bands. The guitarist Tony Barford is still playing, and gave this interview in 2012.
Have a listen to Strange Sights And Crimson Nights, which I think fits right in with the Halloween series I am doing here on my blog! It's a bit spooky and etherial. Be sure to listen to all 6+ minutes because it goes through several phases!
