Netcoins

Alrighty then.... If you didnt know, there was a contest held over the past week for a free listing (worth 30kUSD) on Netcoins. We all had the opportunity to vote for our favorite coins to be added to the exchange. Naturally we did a shill drive to get all yall peeps to be voting for STEEM to get that listing as it would be another great step forward for STEEM and the steemit platform, including its communities and all steemians alike.

Now i must admit it was one crazy roller coaster ride right the way through... and if you monitored the action of the voting would know that we came up through the ranks and took the lead form XVG in a huge push from the Steemit community, only to be sniped in the end by INS out of nowhere , in an absolute avalanche of votes in the final hours of voting... some would say rather suspiciously, as in hundreds of votes per minute suspicious.

Being so close to the win and being surpassed in the final moments can seem like a HUGE let down and a great disappointment. So how do we consolidate the is feeling of loss and grief of putting in the hard yards and all that effort for what would seem nothing? well... Let look at the factors at play here.

Factors

  • First off, lets frame this appropriately this was always a competition, there was going to be one winner and then the rest in the voting order. Once we understand this perspective we know we were just as likely to win as any other cryptos in the running.

  • Next, coming in second aint a bad thing you know? There are still some great benefits to getting that silver trophy, a discounted listing opportunity if we choose to do so... how good is that ?!?!?! Free is good, but discounted is better than full price. Im sure its an opportunity worth taking and im pretty sure we could all rally that if we needed to.

  • Now, here is one of the things i think is the most beneficial from this exercise, we know the strength of the community is here, strong and healthy, ready to put up the good fight for the sake of STEEM, steemit and our fellow steemians. At any given moment we have the ability to unite and push 20k votes in little to no time whatsoever. THIS is a great revelation and reflects the comradery shared among us all.... imagine what else we can do with this kinda power as a collective AND keep in mind that we are still young and growing ;)

  • Finally, its not over till its over, Netcoins has done a sweep through for hinkey votes and fixed the numbers up in the running of the competition, this was due to some shifty business in the process. So, since there was a final landslide of votes for INS i would imagine they will be looking at it the same way (meaning suspiciously) and will do what they can to make sure all is in order before announcing the winner next week, but lets not hold our breath.

Conclusion

Lets be real here, we put in a great effort to get STEEM right up there in this competition, we showed our might and it was organic, not farmed. Winning the "Free Listing" would be great, but its not the end of the world if we don't get it...STEEM is doing great and can stand alone because of what it is. We may not take this step forward, but we will take another step forward, there will be more opportunities in the future which will be beneficial... this is not the only one we will come across ;)

The fact is that right now we have done all we can, we came together , got in there and fought the good fight.... there is nothing left to do except wait and worry, but we all know that to worry is just a waste of time. The die have been cast, the cards will fall where they lie...

So what does this mean for us either way ? well not much really. We did our best and if we take anything away from this it is that we have a strong community which can achieve great things if we choose to do so... realistically the outcome of winning or losing is of no consequence, the true prize has been knowing the kind of communities we have and are part of and in this sense, we have already won...

Much love and copious hugs in all your directions :)
