Sometimes it's Good to be Angry

We're often told we should control our emotions, especially if they are "bad" emotions such as jealousy, hate, lust, anger... But here's the thing - these so-called "bad" emotions are not always bad. Sometimes, when you're stuck in a rut, or you're trying to get something done, or when things are not going the way you want them to, sometimes it's good to be angry. Here's an example:

In the ongoing NBA playoff series the Boston Celtics took a 3-0 commanding lead over the Philadelphia 76ers (in a best-of-7 series). Philadelphia's young star Joel Embiid took it to heart and played an aggressive game, determined to get his team back into the series. He was provoking the Celtics' players, and in one instance he was having a verbal exchange with Marcus Morris pointing at his own head and saying "I'm in your head! I'm in your head!". Morris responded by showing a number 3 and 0 with his fingers to remind Embiid of the score.

Later in the game, Embiid got what he wanted as Celtics' Terry Rozier was so annoyed by him for trying to grab the ball from him after a whistle from the ref, that he tried to punch him in the face! Tempers flared and the two seemed to be getting into a real fight, separated only by the other players and the referees who had to intervene.

Philadelphia went on to win the game. Later on during the press conference, Joel Embiid was asked about the incident and said that this kind of energy gets him going: "I was just trying to get the ball and he was the one trying to swing… Those type of plays you just use to kind of boost your energy and it takes your game to another level, so I like getting into that type of stuff.”

Sometimes it's good to be angry, if it gets you going and pushes you forward towards achieving more things or to overcome obstacles in your life. We are born with the so-called "bad" emotions just like we are born with the "good" ones. In and of itself, the full range of emotions, including the "negative" ones, can be used in life with great success for as long as you don't over do it.

By the way for those curious to know, the Sixers are now 1-3 down in the series and face an uphill battle to try and get back into the series later tonight. Will they succeed? We will see.
But one thing's for sure - Joel Embiid will bring his trademark passion and fire to this must-win game.

What do you think? Can it be a good thing to be angry or are certain emotions always negative and to be avoided?

Ah, it is inevitable to get angry, we are human! :-D And sometimes you get good things by being angry, hehehe. What we can not afford is to harm or harm ourselves at such times.

Wow I love this haha
But you see, “there’s always a good in a bad, and there’s always a bad in a good.” That’s just how the universe works, that’s how life works. We just have to always make sure we’re in tune with our conscuand mind

I totally agree with you, nothing is just good or just bad, the universe is a perfect balance between opposites...

EXACTLY
Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Thank you!

Yes friend!

Wow! They are right @lifegoalmentor and @all-life. Today I was thinking about that and I was asking myself, because there has to be something good in a bad thing or vice versa? and it's true, it's always like that. law of life, without a doubt.

Yes, it's precisely like this! The world is made out of opposites that only together make everything perfect.
This truth can only make us stronger, making it easier to accept when bad things happen and joyous when good things happen to us.

As is.

It's an interesting topic. What I have learned from the spiritual sciences is that this type of intention around competition will produce negative karma. Healthy competition, in other words, playing the game without manipulation, for the sake of the game and to improve your performance, produces "good" karma.
If someone is trying to rip you off, it is appropriate to be angry, there is no negative karma produced. But in the case above and when the intention is to do harm, then negative karma will weigh on the soul, producing tension and dullness.
I've learned a valuable trick. When you have negative thoughts about someone or something, throw it back to the Universe. Tell the Universe to take the thoughts away from you and you will feel it dissolve, your soul will be lighter for it. Try it.

I agree that experiencing the "negative" emotions over a long period of time can be harmful, stressful, etc. Having said that, the concept I am suggesting is that anger, hate, resentment, lust, vengefulness... some of these emotions have ironically extracted the best out of people. For instance, take a look at art - the tortured artist (Van Gogh), the self hating rockstar (Kurt Kubain), the alien junkie (David Bowie)... Suffering and pain creates beauty too, oftentimes more so than feeling happy and grateful.
Sure, it comes at a cost as the person is living in a constant chemical storm, but hey, for every action in life there is a reaction.
For times when I will be of need to ease the negativity off my soul I will try out your trick, thanks for that. :-)
