Understanding when someone is flirting with you isn’t really that hard to recognize. There are always certain signs a person gives off when he is trying to flirt with you. And of course, he is usually trying to make it as obvious as possible for you, so you can be sure that he is doing it and can respond to it accordingly. So, how do you know a guy is flirting with you? Below are some tips that give you a better idea:

He uses word-play or gives hints. Sometimes when a man flirts with a woman and doesn’t really want to say straight up that he is attracted to a girl, he will say things that could have different meanings where in one scenario he makes a compliment to you or gives you little hints that he likes you. Of course, he could also just compliment you to see how you react to it. If your reaction is positive, he might compliment you again or try some more obvious approach. Men are usually more straight-forward about such things than women and when you get the feeling that he might be flirting with you, he most likely is.

His body language shows he is attracted. A person’s body language can tell you a lot about their intentions. If you are not sure if a guy is flirting to you, then watch for certain indications that might reveal his intentions. Does he lean in when he is talking to you or listening to what you have to say? Are his toes pointed towards you (he is interested) or does he look like he is about to walk away? Does he try to touch you in some way (usually playfully or “accidentally”)? Does he keep a distance between the two of you or is he trying to get into your personal space? Does he smile a lot when he listens to you or says something to you? A man’s body will usually reveal a lot of his intentions and can be a good indication if he is flirting with you or not.

His whole attention is on you. When a guy is attracted to you, he literally can’t take his eyes off of you. He keeps long and intense eye-contact with you and doesn’t usually let anything else influence him. When there are other people around, he rarely notices them and most of the time talks only to you. And whenever he is flirting with you, he always has a smile on his face. So, when a guy holds eye contact with you and always smiles whenever he is looking at you, you can be sure, that he likes you and is flirting with you.
