Why I don't Accept Myself or Anyone Else

in psychology •  6 years ago

I'm not perfect. You're not perfect. I am certainly not going pretend that any of us ARE perfect in order to feel better. I want to face my weaknesses and my mistakes, and I want to learn and grow from them. This is why I don't accept myself as I am: I know I can be better, and that is what I strive for.

(NB - this doesn't mean that I go around judging myself and others, and if you think that it does then I suggest you get to know what I stand for a whole lot better)

It is totally impossible that I can agree more.

The blind acceptance of everything, leads us to identify ourselves with our negative qualities, as if we were that, and as if we could not change such things to improve.

We are not our qualities, whether positive or negative, we are not the fat or the thin, the fool or the smart, the strong or the weak, none of that, we are precisely the ability to change such qualities for better.

Exactly! We are not powerless wisps being wafted around by the currents of life (or at least we don't have to be).
