Introduction
We live in a constant balance of moments when we are on our own and moments when we have loving company. Although the usual loneliness can be seen as something negative by many people, it is also possible to realize anyone can enjoy their solitary moments so much that they prioritize these plans over the alternative of improving their social skills and having constant interactions.
It is very likely that, throughout our lives, we have met people who might have certain difficulties in their way of relating, talking and engaging with others as well as establishing intimacy in general. Maybe, they are simply shy and introverted people whose likes are more focused on enjoying quieter activities. However, there is also the possibility for them to socially isolated individuals.
These individuals and their high level of introversion can generate a certain mystery in everyone else, because it can be difficult to get to know them, and understand them can be quite complicate since there is no proper communication that could shine some light regarding why they choose to be like that. They will tend to be people with little to no social connections, and living like this for too much time will have some consequences regarding their mental health, and their overall wellness.
Your title got me like, "Yea, Sure, lets do this", and I wasn't disappointed. Isolation does lead to suicide overtime and I quite agree with you on this that they (isolated people) often..
It is time we begin to reach out to all our loved ones, at least we don't if we'll be stopping a suicidal thought by this action, but we just might.

You are right @abumaryam, we never know when someone is having suicidal thoughts, but there are indeed some common symptoms, and isolating themselves is one of them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

This is a really great article, as always you show an incredible amount of 'dedication' to your posts 😂.
At the time that I write this comment the post is at $13.37, back when I was 15 that meant LEET or elite (in a computer game called CounterStrike), kinda makes me think about the people I was playing computer games with and how socially isolated we were. Somehow the virtual world provided some way to interact, although not a very life affirming way.
I also wanted to let you know that I have 'radically appropriated' the basic design for your divider, and have used my graphic design skills to make something similar :3

Well, the virtual world in my opinion will continue to evolve, becoming a larger and larger part of our lives. Have you seen the movie Ready Player One?
haha mate no problem, feel free to modify it as much as you want.
Cheers!

It is about a VR videogame and people spend most of their time in there. The movie was quite fun in my opinion.

Wow this is really lovely and well written article! I often wonder if so many of these psychological disorders have arisen from the way civilization has evolved of late. Stuff like this is unheard of in communities where there is greater emphasis on supporting each other. Just look at the native Amazonian tribes or the Maasi people.

That might be a factor, I mean today we can perfectly survive without having much contact with other people and we have technology that can entertain us while we are alone in our homes, which is something not possible with the people you mentioned.

Wow! I love your article. I'd say one important thing to ponder is for that person to have people around who will continue to support, encourage and enlighten. Just being there for the person really is a great help. :-)

I really didn't think too much about this at first. My initial thought is that each of us are fighting our own battles, and I believe that somehow those who seemed struggling now can find their own way out someday, they just need to snap out of the drama.
Until, my sister told me that she's been struggling with some kind of depression. It was tough, and honestly I don't understand or know a lot about these things, or worse how to handle such things. But at least, I was beginning to look at it in a much clearer perspective and will no longer downplay any signs of depression knowing that externally people may seemed great but within themselves, and their own minds, they are fighting a war.
Thanks for this detailed info @dedicatedguy. Cheers!

Yep, to show a positive attitude while internally dealing with depressive thoughts is quite commons.
A lot of suicides are a surprise because the person didn't show any symptom of depression, and in a way, it makes sense, because it can be easier to simply pretend being ok, than to deal with all the repercussions of accepting you have a serious problem.

I used to be a ‘victim’ of this(maybe I still am, but not entirely anymore)
What should I do?

Since you said "not entirely" I guess you don't isolate yourself anymore right?
Either way, if people stop having social encounters when they decide to have one after so much time it might be more difficult than normal, so trying to keep at least the minimum social activity is always good for people that enjoy having a lot of alone time.
And if you feel out of touch, then start to slowly dip your toe when it comes to social encounters should be good. A slow and steady start.

Well I do haha, I’m a hell of an introvert.. but sometimes I can control it, most times Nah
Steemit is literally the only social network I use.. and discord
I enjoy solitude but sometimes it gets out of hand, all my families complain.
Well, I think steemit would count as the minimum social activity. I guess
Thanks for your concern man! :)

Damn.. Yes this is a serious problem especially in the United States where society is so built around isolation. People can live completely lonely lives with no interactions at all.. even perfectly socially healthy people. For example moving to a small, suburban sprawl type town. If people don't take the step of say.. joining groups or taking classes.. it's just work, home, shopping, repeat... Pretty sad. For folks with poor social skills this is even tougher. The vicious cycle is very true as well, with each rejection or choice to isolate the views become reinforced until they consume the individual. Thanks for bringing some light to this very important subject

This is true, even though we are tons of options when it comes to social applications, this doesn't necessarily means people are having more social engagement as it should be.
Thanks for dropping by mate.
