We sometimes think wonderful dreams and then retreat in fear and doubt about our ability to accomplish them. Peering through this fog at the future, we often disregard the truth that we’ve accomplished wonderful things before. Our confidence (our faith really) about the abundance that awaits us can get a little shaky at times.
But you don’t have to go very far to strengthen that confidence, that faith, if you recognize and remember that you have accomplished fantastic things before.
Try this exercise, inspired by Mike Dooley’s “Manifesting Change.” It’s intended to infuse your future intentions with power. Give yourself the gift of some quiet time to do this:
On a notepad or on your computer, write down as many thoughts as you can think of that have already become the reality of your life in the way of things or events. Skip lines or leave blank spaces between each bullet point on your list.
Reflect on this initial list for a few minutes. Try to remember how past dreams that became real started as mere thoughts, desires, and intentions about what you wanted to create.
Once you’re happy with this list of “desires that have come true or thoughts that have become things,” fill in the blank lines with the present desires that you want to come true.
Now look at the entire list that you just put together. How does it feel? Do your desires feel more achievable in the company of other desires you have already achieved? By associating your past successes with the results you now want to create, you are empowering your mindset with that sense of “knowing” that you are indeed capable of accomplishing that which begins as a mere thought or idea.
You see, you’ve done it before. You’ve dreamed and made it real before. The ability to create what you want is already innately within you. That means you can do it again.
You've got the Midas touch.
