The brain is the most complex and sophisticated creation of God on this planet. There is nothing more evolved and technologically advanced than the brain every technology has fallen from the Human Brain.
The brain is broadly divided into 3 parts:
- Cerebellum (Hindbrain)
- Cerebrum (Forebrain)
- Brainstem (Mid Brain)
Functions of the different structure of the Cerebellum (Hindbrain)
⦁Medulla– It is the part of the hindbrain where nerves cross from one side of the body to the opposite side of te brain. It is the first large swelling at the top of the spinal cord, forming the lowest part of the brain, which is responsible for life-sustaining functions such as breathing, swallowing and heart rate.
⦁Pons– The large swelling above the medulla that connects the top of the brain to the bottom and that plays a part in sleep, dreaming, left-right body coordination, and arousal.
⦁Cerebellum– It is the part of the lower brain that is located behind the pons which controls and coordinates involuntary, rapid, fine motor movement.
⦁Reticular formation– It is an area of neurons running through the middle of the medulla and the pons and slightly beyond that, is responsible for selective attention.

Parts and functions of different structures of the Forebrain:
⦁Limbic system– A group of several brain structures located under the cortex and involved in learning, emotion, memory, and motivation.
⦁Thalamus– It is the part of the limbic system which is located I the center of the brain. This structure relays sensory information from the lower part of the brain to the proper areas of the cortex and processes some sensory information before sending it to its proper area.
⦁Hypothalamus– It is the small structure in the brain located below the thalamus and directly above the pituitary gland and is responsible for motivational behavior such as hunger, thirst, sleep and sex.
⦁Hippocampus– It is the curved structure located within each temporal lobe and is responsible for the formation of long-term memories and the storage of memories for the location of objects.
⦁Amygdala– It is the brain structure located near the hippocampus and is responsible for fear responses and memory of fear.
⦁Cerebral Cortex- It is the outermost covering of the brain which consists of densely packed neurons and is responsible for higher thought processes and interpretation of sensory input.
⦁ Corpus callosum– These are a thick band of neurons that connects left and right hemispheres.

Functions of MidBrain:
This portion is near the brain stem. It contains an extension of the reticular activating system and centers concerned with vision and hearing. This portion also regulates eye movements and certain visual reflexes
Here part of the brain which is shown in blue is Mid Brain
