The internet is a great source of information, but how is it shaping the way we think or interact with others? Have we been exposed to an ideological subversion?
No other generation has had prolonged interactions with a machine that could record every detail of a person's intentions and keep a record of it for all time. As more of our daily habits are tracked and recorded we could be teaching these machines more about ourselves than we know about ourselves.
I don't know who is storing all of this information but is appears privacy has become a luxury.
Are future generations going to talk about privacy as if it were some ancient custom practiced in the twentieth century?
We like to think of the internet as a vast resource for gathering information and communicating. But the internet is gathering just as much information about us, that we blindly feed it without concern.
Is the internet a clever tool used to manufacture our opinions, to isolate citizens within a community, and to polarize social debate on issues of no great importance? Bread and circuses.
This video delves into the effects of spending so much time online and how it shapes our thought processes and interactions within the world around us. I think you'll find it interesting.
i certainly live in a cyber bubble, i make my income from the internet and i also spend my down time on the internet, i can spend the whole day in bed online and i often do ...... quite worrtying really

Everyone becomes so reliant on technology that they forget how to be in nature and enjoy life. But it's hard when technology is so much more common everywhere we go.

Nature is the ultimate, default operating system and we should reboot often.

Because of Steemit, I am actually wanting to get out much more so I can take photos, then I can share it with our community for all to enjoy. Never has social media ever really done that for me haha. :D

Steemit is very addictive.

Ya agreed. Kicked my Facebook silent addiction. Steemit is different. I can write yet not trying to check friends or connections or keeping up. Plus the reward works like information check. We write useful good thoughts, then there is some reward. In Facebook we're writing without thinking, or with too much emotion to attract attention. Insane.

Exactly, Steemit is way more rewarding to be on and working hard out than aimlessly being on Facebook.

I think about this quite a bit. As far as marketing, for my business-it's much faster than in the "old days." I can't remember the last time I used a print add. But as far as spending so much time online, I think for me that's where music comes in. Playing, listening, or going to one of our student's performances. Thanks for posting-I know I probably spend a lot more time online than I "think" I do 😊

I'm online all the time but do break it up with music, travel, and walking the beach.
So, how are you marketing online?

Lots of social media. The kids are on instagram, their parents are on Facebook. I post and repost stuff from our students, and the kids-parents like that. I want the kids completely hooked on music, so using social media to support them in their journey really helps.

You think Mr. Z. is selling the info to higher ups? Not talking about corporate america either..
Knew google was full of shit. I usually go about 10 to 15 pages back to actually find what I'm looking for...

That says it all, and though I giggled at first, it's not funny in the slightest.

No, it's not funny and seems like the future. There has to be a way to take back control of our personal data. That has to be a thing, right?

If it is, I haven't heard of it, nor do I honestly know how to approach the subject. Do we start putting sanctions on social media sites? Maybe a two factor/double dutch sign up agreement where they are fully informed of all their rights and privacies they are relinquishing when agreeing to be members of a site. I don't know, but I'm sure there is a solution. The real question is, with people so used to the luxury and some even have an accustomed addiction to it, would they even care?

Creation of technology is a reflection of ourselves. If most of what we use is void of variations that life itself represented like colors, shapes, contrast, texture etc. There's no point blaming something like this unless we change ourselves to fully benefit technology we use overall. Plus technology is something that has existed for......well millenniums, we've came that far and prevailed, we can do it again.

Technology can be a double edged sword. It can give us tools to have more freedom but at the same time can be used to strip away our freedom and privacy. The challenge is to find the balance in between the two which can be a hard task to do. We need to find that equilibrium such as nature does. If you look at chemistry, reactions naturally work towards an equilibrium...so must we. Just my two cents :P

Seems the trend is to be sucked into cyberspace - knowingly. Knowingly there is potential harm. Then only a few remain outside. It will play out like Star Wars. Some renegades left. This gravitational pull is a silent blackhole.
