Mini Motivation #36 - Thinking outside your ordinary

Impossible!

No, I can't do it like that!

No one has done it that way before. How can I?

Ah, the things we sometimes say to ourselves when we try to think out of the box.

It's kinda ironic actually, because in school, we were placed in boxes so it's easier for the teachers to manage the class.

You can't go too fast or you'll leave others behind.

Nice try, but can you do it how the textbook is teaching you to?

Don't color outside the lines, class!

Yup, because we were all different, it was tough for the teachers to manage the class. So they had to set rules to "average out" the everyone. So we could all fit the box.

Here's the ironic part. When we grow up, we're told to think out of the box, which may be hard for some of us because of the "programming" in school over the years.

But no worries. Human beings as a race had always been adaptable, and eventually, we will be able to break out of the box. (Although for parents reading this, you may want to know what you're putting your kids through.)

Here are a few questions that can help you think outside the box. They have certainly helped me break the mould of the past, that's for sure.

  • If I were to know, is there another way of doing this? Is there another, after the another?
  • Who else has done this differently? Look beyond your city, country, or even continent!
  • What are the actual rules of executing this? Which are those that are made up in the past because of someone convenience?
  • What would someone from outside my industry do to solve this problem?
  • Who deals with this day in day out? Can I get their input, regardless of their rank and position?

See you outside the box!

Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

Blessed Monday! I woke up to read the important motivational post from you.. I think this week gonna be great, my word for this week is "thinking outside your ordinary'

So this week it will be "Hmph, what would the ordinary Warudo do?" and do the opposite?

They teach us in high schools to think within boxes and lines and then we climb higher in the academic ladder, and we're asked to think way outside the box? It is well.

Haha, they just like to see us struggle, I guess.

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite books authors.

This article reminds me about myself. As one day my friend described about "think outside the box" theory, then I asked "where is the box?" LOL. My friend replied, "You are weird, your idea is crazy and you are proud of that". Then, I smile, "The best compliment ever". Xoxo

Thank for sharing, such a great mood booster.

Haha, good one. Where's the box?

I think most of the people find it hard to know the difference between something that is just slightly better and something that is completely different

Quite true. That's why people say we don't know what we're missing, eh?
