You Childhood Dictates Your Adult Life

in psychology •  7 years ago

👶 When we were embryos in the womb, our brain was being programmed by the outside world. Any stresses and strains 😰or love and laughter 😍 of our mother would affect our psychological and biological development. When we came out of the womb, the programming continued. No doubt, it got even more complex as a whole host of other people and experiences came into play.

Day by day, our young brains learned about the world by absorbing what was happening around us and reacting accordingly. These experiences became our blueprint for life. They became our beliefs, emotions and actions. They became the lenses through which we would see the world. They became the lens through which we would see ourselves. 👀

What's in your blueprint? ❓

Some people's blue print contains a lot of love, security and support 😃. Other people's contains a lot of shame, fear and rejection 😓. Many people's contains a bit of both. As you can imagine, some of these make for a more powerful and joyful life experience than others.

Whatever your blueprint, it's important to realise that a blueprint is just a blueprint. It is not a one and only truth. It's just a version of something. A version that you were handed and had no choice but to take. Maybe you got a good one. Maybe you didn't. I don't know what rules govern the dishing out of blueprints.

Whatever the case - no one's blue print is set in stone. The brain is not hard wired. We can unlearn stuff. We can learn stuff. We just have to put in the work. We have to get off autopilot and take the controls. It's time to direct our own flight. 🚀

Great post, but dont forget that there are 3 types of values:

1- inherited (which comes through childhood)
2- compensatory
3- experimental

So most people as you said let their inherited values run their lives, however, many others generate the other teo kinds and dont let their childhood run the scene when they're adults...

But good efforts bro

Interesting - not heard values described in that way before. What's a compensatory value?

You can read more in details in any book on NLP, compensatory values are ones that the person develop to compensate something she went through during her life, like developing a value of compassion because someone's parents used to beat her when she was a child, or developing value of helping others if the person was born an orphan and no one looked after him

Ah I see - thanks @algracious :) will research this!

YES @pinky-jangra...it is NOT written in stone. ..my blueprint was negative...but I'm changing that ..I firmly believe that you do not sit around justifying your negative behavior and thoughts by blaming your parents or others .we change our paths ...thank you for posting this ...it makes happy to see somebody bring awareness to this :) :) Kayleigh

💖 Thank you Kayleigh, so glad to hear the perspective you take on this - many people struggle to get this viewpoint and they continue to repeat patterns. Keep shining :) 💖
