Believe it or not, smoking is an anxiety 'cure' for millions. For some, it's just a nasty habit; but, for others, it helps calm their focus. Smoking helps keep people med-free. I'd pray all could wean themselves of the smokes; but, if given a choice of synthetic drugs and a low-nicotine cig, I think the latter is better. Of course, jmho.
