PTSD dreams of a war unknown

in ptsd •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm having a recurring dream , I'm in a war zone that I've never seen before and I'm unarmed. The hole dream I'm evading capture or death. I can feel everyone hunting me, eyes and scope are brushing up and down my body. Everything I hide behind or in is too small to totally conceal me. There's a sense of constant doom. I can't breath or catch my breath. This goes on for what feels like hours and hours. Suddenly I'm not anywhere and all goes black I can't see or hear anything all I can feel is choking breathlessness. I start screaming and screaming and then I fly out of bed in a total panic out of breath like I've been chocking. I now spend the rest of the night pacing around the house, scared to go back to bed and hating my existence. When I finally go to sleep I wake up and I'm back to my happy self. I go about my day looking forward to change and healthier days. I play with my son and try to stay positive. Then it's night time and I'm getting ready for bed thinking about the possibility of a peaceful nights sleep. Thanks for listening. Love you guys. TommyG

The dream is a natural response to those who have undergone high stress or hyper vigilant situations. My thing is when I wake up I have to clear the house or I cant go back to sleep. Once I know its clear I'm ouy like a light, but only if I'm certain.

I also notice a distinct lack of snipers whenever I drive stateside as well. Not an issue, just observance at its finest.

Hooah.

Maybe when I'm pacing around after a dream I am clearing the house unconsciously. That would make sense. Do you go through the "what I would do if some guy with a gun came in scenarios" everywhere you go? I do , distracts me from work all the time. Butt if it really happens I will be ready!!! Lol.

Everywhere I go. And it doesnt matter where I am. Church, taking a patient into the ER, its always the background program I cant get to stop running.

But it is efficient.
