Today let me introduce you to the conjoined twins from Palawan, Philippines, Chiara and Charina. Internet is a great way to connect and help families. Spreading the news on Steemit world.
Unfortunately, they cannot be separated according to MRI result because their brains are attached, it would be difficult for the family if they loose one of the twin but they are still taking chances and accepting the result if the operation fails. Now they are seeking help to much advance country for the operation and for 2nd hand opinion to separate the twins. Because they would love the twins to have normal life for their future.
They are 6 years old now. They are youngest daughter of Arnel and Sonia Ortega. Chiara also has cleft palate resulting to difficulty in talking. Arnel works in DPWH(Department of Public Works and Highways) and Sonia is a housewife.
Craniopagus is called to their condition. According to wikipedia
Relatively few craniopagus twins survive the perinatal period- approximately 40% of conjoined twins are stillborn and an additional 33% die within the immediate perinatal period, usually from organ abnormalities and failure.[2] However 25% of craniopagus twins survive and can be considered for a surgical separation and several attempts occur yearly worldwide. In the last-half century the many advances in medicine including brain imaging, neuro-anaesthesia and neurosurgical techniques have proven that a successful outcome is possible following separation of total craniopagus twins.
