Bus fare and violation fees for UAE - Public service announcement for expats in UAE

in publicservice •  7 years ago  (edited)

As UAE's vat started January of this year, various violations are also implemented and just this morning, I bumped into a page of fellow OFWs who work here in UAE asking if where can he pay because he failed to swipe his bus card knows as hafilat card here in UAE.

2 years ago when I was using bus going to work, I also notice commuters who didn't swipe their hafilat card upon entering the bus or before going out.

Common mistakes of using hafilat card:

  1. Failed to swipe card. Always swipe your card upon going in and out of the public bus.
  2. Forget to swipe.
  3. Intentionally not using swiping hafilat card to avoid balance deductions.

The bus fare currently set at 2.00 AED for local routes, and start at 2.50 AED for every additional kilometer on suburban routes while intercity route fares start at 10.00 AED, with 10 fils per additional kilometers. I would suggest to our fellow commuters to be attentive and responsible in using our hafilat cards and make sure to SWIPE upon entering and before going out to avoid penalties. Make sure that your hafilat card also has enough balance so you can have a smooth and worry-free ride going to your destination. What is 2.00 AED compare to 200.00AED fine if you fail to swipe your card right?
