With the introduction of a working Follow System, we really don't need to be hassling these majestic creatures of the deep

It's time to stop this fascination with Chasing the Whales.
Yes!
They're richer than you!
YES!
Their upvotes are probably worth more than your account is...
But that doesn't mean these people (who helped found this platform you're enjoying) are CASHCOWS or MONEY TREES to be milked or plucked any time you choose.
These guys are people. People who just happened to be onto a sure thing well before you were.
Leave them alone, let them do their thing...
It's about respect...
I'm reminded of an example we have here in Australia. His name is Migaloo, and he's an extremely rare White Humpback Whale, and he's know to travel up and down the east coast of Australia from the cold waters of Antarctica to the Tropical waters around Northern Queensland.
He has his own website that tracks him and shares photos, videos and information about him, and his son, Migaloo Jnr.
The Australian Police and Coast Guard are keeping close watch over him, protecting him as he makes his journey. If your boat gets within 500m of him, you're facing fines and possible jail time. Usually the enforced protection border is only 100m. He even has an aerial exclusion zone of 610m, so even helicopters and other craft such as camera drones are not allowed.
By respecting and protecting this great creature, we've allowed him to survive and thrive, and even to breed.
I see the same in Steemit. If we respect and honour these great and powerful creatures, they will just go about their day-to-day lives of changing other people's lives, and they wont get bored or shy away from the project because it's not worth all the attention. Not all of these guys have a Superstar Complex or need to have your lips attached to their dick all the time... But some of them like it ;)
In all honesty, if you take that out of your focus, you might be able to write some much better content, and actually attract their attention properly and naturally!

The follow system works!
If they WANT to see your posts, they'll see your posts...
You don't need to tag them all, or make targeted posts begging for their attention...
They wanna see you just WRITE SOME SHIT.
Like, really, WRITE. Don't just copy some cryptojunk post, don't try to share other people's shit, don't try stale-ass desperate attempts to get their votes. Just put your head into gear and make some damn original content.
I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this, but it's getting beyond a joke. Even big names are getting ahead of their "income" and taking to immature tactics like calling them out...
I'm no whale, and I'm definitely not the most successful writer on Steemit, but I write original content and have so gained the support of important people by doing so. I'm not out sucking a dick for bus money, I'm networking and trying to make connections for the future. My story will continue to be told regardless of what it makes or what any of you think...
Now before I get skirts lifted to expose the twisted panties and sandy 'ginies all up in my comments, let me say I haven't targeted anyone in this post, just sayin this is an ugly trend and it needs to stop...
TL:DR - We should respect our Whales. Give them some space. They're not here for us, we're here for them...
They won't be around forever, and if we keep going the way we are, they won't be around much longer...
Please, for the love of Steemit...
Stop chasing the Whales!
Whales are the celebrities of Steemit..!
Same reason your average layman has a ladyboner for movie stars/actors...
People love to follow and worship things they think are greater than them.
Even in my limited success on steemit I've seen a fanbase and whatnot pop up around me.. With less than 1000 SP folks still seem to treat me "like a whale" and frankly I can't imagine the annoyance of some of the truly big players. I get a solid 25-30 PM's a day spamming me with links..
You look at whales like BerndogSanders or DantheDevelopmentMan and see them under constant barrage of folks spamming them with posts...
I do not envy the whales.

Ay bro, I too, do not envy them.
I mean sure it must be fun at the start but it'd get pretty old pretty fast.
I'd love to have that power, but at the same time, screw being bombarded all the time.
I know that one or two of the bigs don't mind all the attention but the rest tend to prefer to stay in the background... It's just becoming far too desperate and I'm seeing people wasting too much effort on being "that guy"...

It would be awesome, if the whales started down bombing all the posts that were obvious fishing attempts , that shit would stop right quick LOL

I totally get both sides of the struggle, minnows want to live the Steemit dream and finally get some attention while whales want to browse Steemit in peace. I used to monitor sites like http://catchawhale.com/ constantly and timing all my posts, but nowadays I just write whenever I want, people have to realize that Steemit gives you an opportunity to express yourself - stop thinking about the money. But saying that whales will go away, because people harass them is a bit of an overstatement isn't it ?

Good call, it would be if I mean "go away from steemit".
But the way I see things, if we keep doing it, then they'll vote elsewhere, and you're really only marking yourself for that category. So my statement of "wont be around for much longer" just implies it towards that type of post and player, really. ;)
