Providing solar power to patients in need in Puerto Rico with Receta SolarsteemCreated with Sketch.

When I planned my trip to Puerto Rico for the Blockchain Unbound event I had set some extra time aside for any opportunities to do some volunteer work and it just so happened that the organizers of the event had linked up with a couple of organizers of missions so I decided to tag along with Gabriel Rivera of Receta Solar, an organization formed with the intent of bringing electricity to patients which need to power electrical medical devices via solar panels.

Gabriel started off by doing what he could to help clear roads and bring patients ice for their insulin among many other things. Him and his teams efforts evolved into providing power to the people to make their own ice by bringing them the electricity. What started off as a gofundme effort had expanded with the help of the Priester Foundation. They teamed up together to bring more power to more patients in need.

This video is a glimpse of what it is that Gabriel and the team have been accomplishing since Hurricane Maria had left the island and a post interview with Gabriel about what they are doing. It was an honor to spend time helping in the field and to create content to also help raise awareness. I'm very much looking forward to getting back to PR to help more.

Gabriel, his team, the Priester Foundation and all the donors of time, money or supplies are all heros to me. They have come together in a serious time of need after one of the worst devastating events that Puerto Rico has ever seen and helped their fellow brothers and sisters.

My hat goes off to you all.

Puerto Rico is not out of the dark yet. There are still many patients still without power and the island is still in need. If you think you can help in any way please contact Gabriel Rivera and or the Priester foundation and lend a hand. Any crypto earned by this post will be added to my donation to the Priester Foundation.
