Puppy power

We have been contemplating getting a dog for quite a while now.

They are a big responsibility especially when you don't have a fenced yard.

Our biggest concern was the rabbits. image
(Our little Houdini that keeps escaping) If we got an older dog we could get one that might attack the rabbits. Not good. And puppies are like having a new baby well more like a toddler with how they chew everything. LOL.

So we needed a good breed that did well with farm animals. I am working on getting chickens as soon as possible. Also a breed good for protection. For my son we wanted to have an animal known for alerting for seizures and that we could train for sensory assistance.

Meet Ginger our 12 week old White German Shepard.

I was really worried about having a hyper puppy. She has put those fears to rest. Yes she chews and yes she barks at the cats but has surprised us all with how well she behaves. Yes we are having accidents. I am really proud of the kids helping and stepping up to care for Ginger.

Cassie has already made her a chew toy from an old shirt.

I think what I am most excited about is Leif's choice to have her be a part of his 4H project. I am not sure who will doing more of the training Ginger or Leif. She will be helping him in ways I can't even begin to fathom.

She seems very happy and I know Liam is beyond happy to have a dog. He is just like his Nana an animal lover. If he had it his way we would probably have every type of pet imaginable image

Ginger's favorite spot to sleep so far is on the air conditioning vents with her chew toys.

This week we will be planting some ginger rhizomes in honor of Ginger.
