Welcome Home, Narla.. I mean LuLu the Golden Retriever Puppy

After 7 long weeks it was finally time - On Saturday we picked up our 8 week old Golden Retriever Puppy. What a happy day full of laughter, cuddles, smiles and tears.... I'll get to that part shortly.

We got up bright and early, we had a 2+ hour drive ahead of us and we were so excited to see her again. Even though it was only 7 days since our last visit to see the family and play with all 6 Pups but today was THE day we could bring her home.
We get to the little farm where Mum & Dad and the rest of the pups lived and holy shit! Why are puppies so damn cute! They had just been freshly bathed and drying off in the back of the owners pickup truck, peeking their fluffy heads over the edge of the tray sides and crying for some attention.. Or to escape and get back to pulling on some plants from the perfectly manicured garden. A bit of both I think.

We had all intentions of only staying for 15-20min so we could get home and introduce her to our 18mo old Chocolate Labrador - Koda. Turns out we were there for nearly an hour and a half and we ended up leaving with Chrytal my girlfriend having tears running down her cheeks. And not the happy kind..

Let's backtrack nearly a year and half - when we got Koda, we didn't meet his Mum & Dad, only one of his brothers. It was, I guess an emotionless transaction of a little brown puppy for a bunch of hard earned cash. Even though we loved the heck out of the little guy from the first second we layed our eyes on him it was all positive emotions.

Now, back to the weekend. As we were leaving Chrystals got the guilts HARD! Turns out we fell in love with Lucy and Hugo (mum & dad) and all of LuLu's brothers and sisters after all the time we'd spend with them as they were growing up.
It was heartbreaking knowing that both Mum and Pup don't really understand what's happening and they might never will. There was no way to communicate it or reverse what we had done. And to add to Chrystals heartbreak we weren't the only ones picking up pups that day. Poor Mumma Lucy. :(
So being the man I am, I took photos of my girlfriend as she cried holding our new fluffy puppy in her lap to cover up how sad the moment really was. A few comforting words of reassurance and we were on our way with a sleepy puppy and a clueless Labrador at home.

Big day! So much love, my heart is full!
