Sky turned to deep purple after a brief rain in New Zealand

Aucklanders were astonished to see a lavender colored sky on Thursday night. The purple sky was result of a weather phenomenon caused by different wave lengths of light which produce different colours that scatter when they interacted with rain drops. Unusual purple tinted sky was a pleasant surprise to many residents. Social media accounts were flooded with snaps of lavender sky over the Auckland, capital city of New Zealand


After a rainy evening the sky changed hues throughout the evening, beginning as a soft mauve and deepening to a wonderful purple.
