FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY: PUTO CHEESE

Hello steemians. Making my very own puto cheese. Puto (Steamed Cake with Cheese) is a traditional Filipino snacks that is served accompanied by dinuguan (pork blood stew) or pancit. Originally made from ground rice. But this recipe, I was using all purpose flour instead. And it turned out to be fluffy and fine texture. Make it special by topping with slices of cheese. This is how to prepare:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2-1/2 tbsp baking powder=double acting
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups water
  • slices of cheese
  • water for steaming

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Prepare steamer with water.

  3. In a large bowls, sift together the dry ingredients:
    Flour

    Baking powder

    Sugar

    Salt

  4. Mix the wet ingredients in another bowl
    Egg

    Milk

    Water

  5. Mix all the ingredients well. Making sure there are no lumps. I was using a hand mixer for easy mixing

  6. Pour mixture into individual molds

  7. Arrange molds in the steamer. Top each puto with slices of cheese. Steam for about 15 minutes or until risen and firm to touch

  8. Remove from the steamer. Cool for a few minutes then unmold.
