Putter direction is insurance for speed. Today I struggled with direction, hope these lessons will be of help!
Lesson number one. Peter Cowen suggested to hit the golf ball in the center. Hitting under the golf ball creates lack of strength in the put. Hitting the center produces a solid shot. This creates strong direction and speed to the target.
Lesson number two. While using a pop put, hit the ball with a squared club face. In pop putting, this is key.
Lesson number three. TruGolfAcademy taught me to keep elbows on my side. For club grip as well, face your hands outward. You minimize arm and wrist movement this way.
Lesson number four. TruGolfAcademy taught me to even my shoulders and weight on my lead foot. Weighting on your lead foot allows for better impact. Even shoulders helps with the way the putter comes in to hit the ball.
Last final tips. Personally, I reduce my pullback now and hit the ball quicker. Imagining a pendulum only provides the required speed for me and keeps the ball straight.
The last final tips are what work for me. I hope this helps to improve your putter direction. Thank you for reading!
