Howdy Folks!
Lee Williamson here and I want to talk to you today about Forrest Fenn and his treasure!
So first a picture of the TREASURE! to get you nice and interested :)
Now it's not just a nice brass box with lots of gold coins, it's also holding a plethora of diamonds emeralds gold nuggets/dust and some very interesting artifacts that Forrest picked up along the way.
Now that brings us nicely into Forrest's story and just who this odd old man is.
I think that's a nice little intro into just who this old guy is, but if you really want to get to know him I suggest heading over to Dal Neitzels blog and perusing these scrapbook post.
https://dalneitzel.com/2013/02/06/scrapbook-one/
I find it easier to navigate them by simply changing the "one" at the end of the url to "two", "three" etc .. instead of clicking back and forth through the site.
This guy lived an interesting life, he was a combat pilot shot down over enemy territory, he became an art dealer and collector cast his own bronze art with limited success and actually gets out in the field constantly searching for ""new"" artifacts. A real life artsy Indiana Jones.
Now for a bit on the treasure and what put this cooky old man on the map. He has hidden aproximately a million dollars of his fortune in gold and gems in an old world, bronze chest pictured up top (he paid $25K for the chest alone). Treasure included it's said to weigh about 42lbs and much of the gold is in the form of artifacts, meaning that it’s worth much more than the face value of gold alone because of its historical importance. For instance, an ancient Aztec golden amulet is worth much more than the current value of its weight in gold because it is unique, unusual, sought after, special, etc.
Now according to Forrest that treasure was hidden somewhere on this map.
And there are 9 clues in this poem to help you find it.
As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.
Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.
From there it's no place for the meek,
The end is ever drawing nigh;
There'll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.
If you've been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.
So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answers I already know,
I've done it tired, and now I'm weak.
So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.
More Clues Revealed!
So Forrest has given us a few more clues and I think this is mainly to help people follow "the rules" of the search, which include first and foremost do no harm. No need to go digging holes all over Yellowstone or robbing graves or ripping apart old sheds and cabins.
Clue #10
The treasure is hidden higher than 5,000 feet above sea level.
Clue #11
No need to dig up the old outhouses, the treasure is not associated with any structure.
Clue #12
The treasure is not in a graveyard
Clue #13
The treasure is not hidden in Idaho or Utah
