How Qigong Can slow the onset of Alzheimer disease
In Traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts QI is the energy of life, without this energy the body would break down really fast and we would not survive. On a daily basis we need this energy, when this energy gets stuck in various parts of the body due to stress, inactivity, poor diet, environmental pollution or physical injury, eventually we will develop a disease where this energy stuck and is the weakest.
Modern science has recently been these same secrets that traditional Chinese medicine has known for thousands of years. For example physicists have shown that only 4% of the energy in the universe has a physical form. The other 96% is invisible and formless, yet scientists were able to measure it by the way it shapes our physical world. In Qigong the mind body and spirit are all treated together in order to facilitate healing.
Modern neuroscience has confirmed that the brains neuroplasticity has the ability to change its shape and function when focused intent and brainwaves are altered through meditation. This means by literally changing our thought patterns and behaviours we can change our lives and make ourselves healthy once again to what we were when we were much younger both mentally and physically.
Normally when one gets older and the body starts breaking down, the life force energy gets weakened in those areas, usually the first area that the body loses this energy is in the brain, the brain doesn’t store Qi, it only discharges Qi, so the Qi needs to be taken from the lower dantien area. For example if you drink alcohol your liver gets stressed and requires more Qi to go to the liver to detoxify it, what happens is it takes the Qi for brain functioning instead to the liver so that’s why people get dizzy when they drink too much. By training your Qi you can develop greater levels of Qi within your body so when you get older you have enough to fuel your brain to slow the onset of Alzheimer.
Qigong believes building life force energy is like building a muscle and can be trained just like your physical muscles.
Science shows that diet and exercise works for slowing the onset of age related diseases such as Alzheimer, The only problem with Exercise is that your body is discharging qi at a rapid rate and exercise cant be sustained for a long period of time before he or she has to stop and rest because the muscles get tired and sore. Qigong is more beneficial for older people that cannot sustain long periods of physical stress from exercise because it is a slow moving form of light exercise that builds Qi within your body instead of discharging it. It is a form of self preservation.
In China today there are many hospitals that are medicine free, where they only use qigong to heal chronic diseases.
According to a study published in 1991 the Zhineng Qigong hospital in Beijing took data from over seven thousand patients and they had a 94% percent success rate of improvement. 30% percent of the patients being completely cured of their disease.
Qigong is one of the jewels of ancient China and has the power to change ones brain health for the better, Taichi and Qigong is often called the mother and Father of traditional Chinese medicine and believes one should start this training before taking any medicine. Qigong could be the perfect form of preventative medicine, try a class for yourself anytime.
Namaste.
