Introduction

In the current Blockchain space, Bitcoin is not build for scalability and Ethereum network can be clogged up by applications like CryptoKitties . So one limitation currently faced by the blockchain space is scalability and Quarkchain is trying to solve this problem using cross-sharding.

Description

Quarkchain will build its own blockchain which will be highly scalable, and the team is trying to ultimately reach 1 million transactions per second(tps). The team is implementing a 2 layer solution a)rootchain(with high hash power), b)shards(with low hash power) to achieve high scalability

Features

1)Using Ethereum Virtual machine(EVM) : Apps already built on Ethereum will find it easier to migrate to Quarkchain and developer can use the widely popular Solidity programming language.
2)Cross chain transactions : Transactions across multiple shards, each shard having its own currency
3)High scalability : It will be scaled both horizontally as well as vertically.
4)Collaborative mining : It will use hybrid Proof of Work. Multiple small nodes (nodes with less computing power) can work together to run a super node. Therefore, smaller nodes will also have opportunity to participate in the network.

Uses of the native currency

1)Will be used to power the distributed apps build on top of it.
2)Incentivize miners.
3)Fund new features in the blockchain.
