This is a poem that I wrote about Queen Esther.

Hadassah’s selection
Tap, Tap, Tap
A finger’s rapping swiftly on the wings of time
Destiny’s yearning for the replacement of the Queen:
Displaced by Disobedience
The King is calling for reformation: A new regime

Destiny is hosting auditions at the Kings Palace
You can see the lines wrapped around the corner
Beautiful women veiled in virginity:
Soaking in the fragrance of modesty, intelligence, and intentionality
Who will be the King’s selection?
You can see it can’t you?

Bodies brushing against each other
Whispers and school girl’s giggles bubbling forth from innocent lungs
Minds and hearts collaborating;
Housing secret wisdoms of womanhood,
Encoded
Into their anatomy.

There she is,
In the midst of the chaotic harmony
Loveliness wrapped in a quiet spirit and obedience.

Soaking in fragrant oils wrapped in promise
Her hour has come to be prepared
Your eyes engage the scene long enough to see:
She’s the Queen!
