Eno - Polemik 2 "Journey to the kraav"

in quest •  7 years ago

"Welcome to Kraav. Put your tools of trade to the ground so we can speak" Says the Chief
(Who is called Ublai Verdis as Hans recalls)

"Allright..." starts Hans and signals the others to put down their rakes and hammers.
Suddenly aristocrat intervenes by saying:

"We will not be doing that before you yourselves put down your tools" Rest of the polemikian convoy are baffled as to who to listen to. Hans is yet again, not amused

"You have come here with the same amount of armed men as we have men in our village.. As a quest, it would be polite to put down your tools before asking your host to do the same" The Chief says firmly.

"Very well we will put down our tools for a sign of good will." Says the aristorat eloquently and signs the polemikians to resume their disarmament. Hans sighs silently.

"So guys now that thats sorted, whadaya want? We've already got a trade deal, what more could you possibly need?" Chief asks, talking thick kraavian accent to no one in particular but finishing his sentence at Hans.

Hans quickly replies before anyone can interrupt:
"We be neeging more stone and labourers and sum skilled craftsmen also, for a build we`re planning. Did we come to the right place or are you not the best masons around these parts of Eno" Says Hans in language which in his own mind is perfect imitation of kraavian accent. By the looks of some of the kraavians themselves this might not be the case.

The chief puts his hands across his chest and replies:
"Hang on there lad, Everyone in this village already has a job. We can not spare anyone unless your are willing to pay more than what they are currently earning."

Hans smiles and says:
"But of course, right now you are earning 1 cart of fish, we could be suplying you with a cart of seasons produce every month so you would be doubling your food suply! I bet you are sick of eating only fish all the time."

The chief seems to be thinking about the offers so Hans quickly adds:
"And of course your people would be coming with us and work in polemik for the coming months so you would have even less mouths to feed while they are gone. Whadda you say, do we have a deal?!"

The chief looks at Hans directly in the eyes suspiciously and asks:
"Before we give you what you want... What is this build you`re planning anyway?"

Hans swears a little in his mind and says trying hard to place his words correctly:
"Well, a Wall. More of a fence really. We just need it to be really big and really strong fence."

Before the chief has a chance to reply Hans adds:
"If your concerned with your people we can leave someone as collateral. Take Maartha for example, She is really good healer and a really crack at herbs. Some say she can speak to animals. Not at all as crazy as one might think."

Hans gestures towards Maartha as he speaks. Martha is having a conversation with some digger ants, apparantly there is something underneath the village causing grief to the ants. Insect can be hard to interpret some days in account of all the pheromones so she is not sure what it is... She stands up and hears Hans saying:

"What do you say, do we have a deal?"

The chief looks pondering something for a while after which he says:
"Allright, if we give you 5 of our workers in exchange for food and your healer (And we want our people back when the wall is finished in same condition as they were when they left, I expect you to take care of them properly!) then our defences will be severely crippled. We cannot be rest assured that other villages or the fief will leave as alone if we weaken ourselves"

To which Hans adds:
"Well then what do you say we compensate your loss of population with the people of our own. 5 of our people will stay here to provide able workforce and security and you give us the goods and the means to build a wall to be behold at!"
an addition which raises a wave of murmur among polemikians.
