What is a Neural Network
Neural networks are composed of layers of computational units also called neurons, with connections in different layers. These networks transform the data until they can classify it as an output.
Neural networks are used for solving many problems like forecasting, data validation, natural language understanding, etc.Neural networks give us some insight into the “easy problems” of consciousness.Neural networks have made computers more useful by making them more human.
Some specific applications of ANNs are discussed below.
- Human Face Recognition: It is one of the biometric methods to identify the face this is being used by social media platforms.
- Signature Verification Application: Signatures are used to authorize and authenticate a person in legal transactions.
- Character Recognition: This is used in the conversion of an image or type text in machine-encoded text.
- Speech Recognition: Speech holds a prominent role in human to human interaction. Therefore, it is natural for humans to expect speech interfaces with computers.
- Self Driving Cars: In the self-driving cars project, depth estimation is an important consideration in autonomous driving as it ensures the safety of the passengers and of other vehicles.
- Image Compression: Neural networks can accept and process vast amounts of data at once, making them useful in image compression.
There are many other applications of neural networks that are being used or studied.
