If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make them?

I think its because its still a form of failing and no one wants to fail at things. I think that will be a human reaction to anything at first. We as humans have that self preservation tick so failing at something no matter how small may truly be a defense mechanism but i'm just a regular giving my 2 cents!
