Quick Tip: An Easy Solution To Manage Your Replies - Giving Respect (and maintaining sanity)

in quicktips •  7 years ago

Are You Overwhelmed Trying To Respond To Your Replies?

As I have grown my engagement here on steemit, I've also increased the number of people that I get replies from. I am by nature someone who believes that it is courteous to say "please" and "thank you", and this caused a problem when my interactions grew. Simply put, I like to show respect to the people that have contacted me.

I have tried many different ways to keep up, but since I do many things here, tools like GinaBot still didn't work. (Note: Ginabot is awesome, but I have hundreds of notifications a day that I want to see, and its hard to sort in that format)

Steemworld.org Solves The Problem Beautifully

In the "Account Operations" section of my steemworld.org page their is another feature that is fantastic for solving my reply issue. If you are not familiar with it, just go to https://www.steemworld.org/@yourusername (NOTE: replace "yourusername" with your username ;)

In my case it is this: https://www.steemworld.org/@davemccoy

Set It Up Right For Ease

After you've logged into your account, go to the "Account Operations" section. On the left, set the "Filter" functions to:

1) "In"
2) "Comments"

That's it. Easy peasy :)

Clean View Of All Your Replies

I like this view a lot because I can easily spot who is replying to me by name. If I see my favorites or someone I'm looking for, then it is much easier to spot them and reply quickly.

Easy Roll-Up Function

I like this feature the best. You can click on the comment and see what the body of the message it. If you want to reply, then you click directly on to the permalink. And it opens in its own tab (which is helpful because when you are finished you can just close that tab and come back to your steemworld.org screen. And you can roll it back up too ;)

Why Its Important To Reply

To me the greatest single factor in getting people to know you is to reply back to them. I'm a little old school, but if someone asks me a question, then I will try to answer or at least tell them that I don't know. Also if someone compliments me, I try to always thank them. Basically its just a sign of respect. No different from holding open a door for someone and letting them go first. I've learned in life that in order to get respect, you must be able to give respect. Nobody wants to deal with selfishness and arrogance!

OK that's it for now... I hope it helps.

I'm trying to help my followers to understand the things I learn so that together we can grow. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be more than happy to answer.

As always be humble and...

Thank you for this Tips. 👍

Thats a great tip! I too am like that, I think its the southerner in me! Yes maam, No maam, Please and Thank Yous! I hope one day I have a problem responding to all the comments! LOL

me too @smylie2005... And as you keep making good and genuine comments like this, you will get there very quickly. Its the way to get connected, go and visit people and make good comments. I have a feeling you're going to be pretty good at this ;)

And I'm connected now to you and how could I forget smylie2005 (that's exactly how many smiles I try to send every day) :)

I like that! This has been my "internet name" since 2001! I enjoy getting to know people, even if its just through comments. Ive met some pretty awesome people through this platform and Im looking forward to continuing! Thanks alot for your reply... count one smile off for me! :)

its good, that is a lot of smile for you since 2001... And yep, I only have 2004 to go ;) ... nice to meet you and hope we stay connected!!!

You too, we will! :)

Somebody turned me on to SteemWorld in my second day here. It's just terrific.

I'll be posting a 'NewbieResteemDay' repository post to start collecting links here in just a little bit. I hope I have 100 when I get up!

awesome Big Tom! I love the dedication of the resteemers!

You guys are the engine that powers the train!!! :)

This is very helpful to all. Thank you for sharing @davemccoy. Have a good one!

That's great! I don't have a ton of comments to sort through at this point, but that definitely helps. All the things that take place with even just a few interactions can be a lot of information to sort through if you're looking for something specific.

Thanks, hombre!

very helpful! @davemccoy

Again, thank you very much davemccoy for your support, always bringing valuable information and recommendations. Like you, I am mortified not being able to respond properly to people at the right time, as the old saying goes: the kindness does not take away the brave; That is why I am going to review the link that suggests to try to improve my treatment towards my friends...ready, I entered to the link that you recommended, now I will explore. Greetings.

Excellent cjao20! I'm happy to hear that. We have some very cool things coming very soon. So keep learning and improving and with you understanding of what it means to be kind, then you will go far my friend. Lets do it together as teammates!

Good luck on your explorations and make sure to let me know what you discover!!! :)

It is certainly very comfortable for what I have already evaluated; Quickly review the comments and I can view them already classified by day; I was using another page, but from what I've seen and evaluated, it's more versatile. Likewise, reward tracking is very easy to visualize. Thanks for the recommendation. I will continue exploring.

yes you are right... I think if you go down into the tools section there is also a mentions tab, I haven't had time to explore it, but my guess is ti will track mentions. If you check it out, let me know

Sure! There is a lot of information to consult and exploit. Thank you.

great and very helpful. will use it for sure. worth a resteem for sure

Thanks so much for this tip. It's a big help.I use steemworld but didn't realise you could do this.

I've been using Gina until now. I hadn't noticed that I could filter for "in comments". That alone is a big help let alone being able to answer them without leaving the page.

Who created https://www.steemworld.org ?
Is it's created only to philanthropically help people reply on steemit?

Or is it like some "evil data-mining-reptilian-scam-site" that somehow is part of a bigger plan to completely enslave humanity? =) (Just want to check before signing up, because you never know these days). =)

haha... no worries about that! It isn't something that you sign up for, it is a tool that has been created to help people see what is going on. I can look at yours and you can look at mine. Everything is free and all the info is available to anyone.

There is no signup. It is just a "viewer" where they compile the data that most people want to see and make it easy to see.

Keep in mind that every action on steemit is completely open and transparent. Something I like because it enables people to find out if others are "bad" as you can see their money movements, the posts they write... even their comments and replies. You can also view anyone's voting habits too.

So I think its on the philanthropy side, but of course bad actors can also you the public info for their own evil purposes.

I hope that helps... Let me know if you have any more questions!

Forgive my sarcastic sense of humor! www.steemworld.com looks like a cool and useful site. Nice to interact with you and big thanks for the friendly approach and patient answer! It helped thanks @davemccoy!

haha... no worries... I just wanted you to know that you didn't sign up... we can get your info anytime we want ...lol

Nice to interact with you too and I hope we stay in touch!!!

ps... if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help... jlmk :)

@davemccoy
Yeah I get it, I will remember you if I need help with something. (Kind of running low on bandwidth now, I think I have been overly "friendly", have to learn to stop replying and commenting, but it is just so much fun)...
Well, I will see you on the flipside Mr.Mccoy! =)

lol... definitely... btw, the bandwidth issue is a problem for everyone, its not tied to what you have done. It is a result of either a computer being down and straining the resources or too many new signups.

Do no worries on replying and commenting... when its back, you can knock yourself out...

if you want to check your bandwidth meter https://steemd.com/@friendly-fenix

see you on the flipside!
