Wise quote: What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted. Proverbs 10:24

King Solomon in his Book of Proverbs wrote a large number of principles reflecting on the ways of man, and depending on which path they choose, righteousness ("Do to no one what you yourself hate" Tobit 4:15) or sin, that will determine the destiny of man. Like all the sapiential books, Ecclesiastes or Ben Sira for example, the Book of Proverbs continues or develops the teaching of Psalm 1, the Psalm of the two paths: "For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction" Psalm 1:6.
Two discernments, two paths, and two retributions; this is the idea that supports many teachings from the Book of Proverbs, foolishness and wisdom are in front of the eyes of man. And like every wise man, King Solomon in his book sought to teach the best and most excellent to men, because in life good intentions are not enough and many times teaching is needed to direct people on the correct path.
And to delve deeper into the topic of the two paths, the wise man left us a wise quote: "What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted" Proverbs 10:24.
And this reflection is very interesting because what this truth is telling us is that above all, what the fool tries to avoid is that what he does to others will come back to him. In other words, one of the consequences of perversion is fear, but not fear focused on someone or something but rather diffuse fear.
And then the proverb continues the reflection and tells us that one of the consequences of righteousness is hope, the idea that tomorrow will be better than the present. Hope for the righteous, fear for the sinners; this conclusion that seems very simple has important psychological consequences, because fear is like a burden, a weight, and because of this fear the fool suffers, but this does not happen with the righteous ones.
That is why wisdom with its knowledge is the most appropriate science to lead man to true happiness.
